One would hope his defenders would include his fellow Republican Party presidential campaigners...one in particular.

This whole “rock” story is so laughable. The next thing that will be a problem is that the painting and moving of the rock was defacing someone else’s property and he’ll be in trouble for that too.

You would think, but he is pouring gas on the fire instead.

Cain asked reporters to focus on “what’s important to the American people” rather than “beat this distraction to death about a word that appeared on a rock.”

“I really don’t care about that word,” Cain added. “They painted over it. End of story! I accept Gov. Perry’s response on that.”

Does that help? On another thread.

This issue is finally being reported on after all these years? You mean to tell me KBH or Lanier didn't know about this, or the Austin papers, etc.?

Nice distraction from 9% unemployment, $15 trillion debt, 2,000 AAM's lost in Libya...

Cain has already done so. (Another article on this on FR.)

And, if the media is successful, they’ll bring down Perry AND Cain with this “story”.

If Rick Perry is racist, then why did he welcome, with open arms, over 100,000 Hurricane Katrina refugees from Louisiana to Texas, most of them African-American.

Yesterday he said it showed racial insensitivity to Blacks.

Then the backlash against his comments came.

Now he “defends”.

I am not a Perry backer because of his stand on immigration but why in the world would he need to be defended?

Has this country gone stark raving mad over race?

I am afraid the answer is yes.

like environmentalism and homophobia and sexism

and by their standards:

I am a racist

I am a homophobe

I am an environmental polluter and malcontent

I am a sexist

and proud

That didn’t stop Rush from tearing Cain up today for it.

An apology would have been kind of nice but I’m glad to hear he said what he did. Hopefully he has learned a lesson from this. Good news, thanks for posting.

From the article...

“He doesn’t have a racist bone in his body,” said former Democratic state Rep. Ron Wilson, who is black and served with Perry in his early years in the Legislature. “He didn’t then, and he doesn’t now.”

Cain's response still doesn't address the fundamental “Perry is racist” imaginary smear the Washington Post is trying to make stick.

That’s just it...he is isn’t racist.

But for a whole day yesterday Cain made it appear that at the very least not only Perry but his family of hunters were at the very least guilty of racial insensitivity.

Some anti Perry people on FR egged Cain on against Perry. Many did not engage in that, but some of them did.
And they did so even after being informed of the truth about this story.

The story was a smear. It wasn’t a legitimate, credible story. It was nothing more or less than a deliberate smear.

Then Wallace, on Pro Romney Fox News, used the smear to bait Cain. Cain went right for it.

The came the backlash against Cain’s comments.

Now Cain changes his tune.

This is exactly what they want, but we continue the circular firing squad instead of refusing to play the MSM’s games.
