Not everyone who says “nigger” means it in malice. Irish were long viewed as “white niggers” to much of Anglo-Saxon America.

I'm a conservative, so I'm not overly sensitive about issues of race. That said, I've only been called a nigger a couple of times in my life. In both instances, it stung so badly, that it stuck for life.

It's a stretch to believe that any non-black person today, would speak that word without malice aforethought. It's been understood to be a racial slur since before I was born in the early fifties.

If you are a black person and some non black person called you a nigger, especially if it was done in the context of anger or contempt probably was malicious. (A few white people are simply ignorant, having learned it from people who were malicious, but never having picked up on the malice.)

I know it’s a lot easier to say than to do, but you have no duty to let someone else’s malice become your own negative self talk. God says no to that, and if God says no then there’s no reason to be saying yes.

You are right. The word is offensive and someone who uses it in common speech is not someone a decent person would want to be associated with.

OTOH, attempting to drive Perry out of the race by attempting to connect him with a sign that was apparently around from before he was born and on property that he did not own is about as wrong as you can get in politics.

you are aware it is not uncommon for blacks to use the word among themselves on a work site or socially and have so for years. The few times I have observed the word used, no offense was taken.

It is indeed interesting that you do not include black persons in this denunciation, eh? Do I understand that if a black rapper calls you a “nigga” or a “ho” or a “bitch” (as they commonly do in their so-called music), that wouldn’t also be a slur to you? Really??
