The Washington Post story revealing that Texas Governor Rick Perry hunted and hosted lawmakers at a hunting camp called Niggerhead is alarming and displays a new height in racial insensitivity in national politics. Mr. Perry should immediately fully explain how he could have gone to a ranch and hunted that is named after such an obvious racist term or he should withdrawl from the race. He is either blindly insensitive or hopelessly unaware of where he spends his time. Either way it makes one wonder if he is ready for prime time and certainly whether he is ready for the White House. Reverend Al Sharpton, President National Action Network

If you are a black person and some non black person called you a nigger, especially if it was done in the context of anger or contempt probably was malicious. (A few white people are simply ignorant, having learned it from people who were malicious, but never having picked up on the malice.)
I know it’s a lot easier to say than to do, but you have no duty to let someone else’s malice become your own negative self talk. God says no to that, and if God says no then there’s no reason to be saying yes.
How far back are they going to attack Perry? So your saying people can change and evolve depending on circumstances. Perry is solid pro life, solid second amendment advocate, solid military supporter and has pledged to put boots on the border. He served his country. He’s a hell of a better choice than any of the others. I give up defending him. When you’re all stuck with Romney as the candidate and obama another four years, I’ll probably just weep and say goodbye to the USA because we won’t get another chance to get it right. Obama gets another four years, it’s over.
OK, I’m just hearing about all of this... Can you explain to me how responding to a comment from a reporter asking if Cain finds the name offensive makes HIM the “race-baiter”? If anyone, it’s the media who started asking all the questions about something that really doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with either Perry OR Cain’s candidacy. Maybe I’m just not seeing it the way you all are, but why does saying a name like that is insensitive make someone a “race-baiter”.
I’ve never forgotten the tape showing Rev Al negotiating a coke deal. I think he said he was trying to arrange a sting.
Please don’t zot this thread or even banish it to the backroom. A serious discussion is going on here.
OTOH, attempting to drive Perry out of the race by attempting to connect him with a sign that was apparently around from before he was born and on property that he did not own is about as wrong as you can get in politics.
No logic needed. Some will accept what he said, some won’t. Just a difference in opinion. You thought he lost something. I didn’t.
Ronald Reagan did didn't he?
Thanks for your effort in supplying the link but I think I'll need a bit more than someones analysis and some obscure unknown link. I'd like to hear it in his own words and in context, thank you.
It seems like everyone is trying to feel good supporting the conservative black candidate. Everything they accused the white guilt liberals of doing. There, I said it.
It doesn't. That is absurd.
Do you have a reference or a link to Cain supporting affirmative action? I’m seriously still learning more about him, and am curious as to his position on that. If you could direct me to where you saw proof of that, I’d appreciate it.
I don’t see how one can exactly say that Cain is “allowing” Sharpton to do anything — it’s not like Sharpton works for Cain, or gets his talking points from Cain, either!
It seems like people are just freaking out over this for no reason at all (on all sides of what really is starting to sound to me like a “non-story”. As someone mentioned somewhere on this thread there are liberal operatives rejoicing at this moment... Did Cain call for Perry to quit running over this? If not, then why the heck is ANYONE acting like Cain is the one who brought this up?
Sharpton is a joke — not because he’s black, but because he carries on like a joke. Cain should clarify, apologize for any mistaken insinuations, then should call out Sharpton for the asinine race baiting clown he is.
Absolutely. I don't see much difference between his stance on illegals and Perry's. Perry is conservative on most things conservative hold dear. Illegal immigration is a sticking point but shouldn't be the end game. I don't think he deserves to be trashed the way he has been.
I guess that's why I didn't understand your post.
I'll say it again; I do like Cain and he is my pick at this point in time. But he did let Amanpour dominate him.
Life, liberty & pursuit of happiness starts with unborn life The Founding Fathers got it right. The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. That wasn't an accident. Their vision meant that you could pursue happiness in America as long as you don't infringe upon the liberties of somebody else. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don't infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn. Source: May 1, 2011
Defund Planned Parenthood; intent was to kill black babies I absolutely would defund Planned Parenthood--not because I don't believe in planning parenthood, [but because] Planned Parenthood as an organization is an absolute farce on the American people.
People who know the history of Margaret Sanger, who started Planned Parenthood, they know that the intention was not to help young women who get pregnant to plan their parenthood. No--it was a sham to be able to kill black babies. Source: Interview on the Bryan Fischer radio show Jan 18, 2011
Life begins at conception, period I believe that life begins at conception, period. And that means that I will have to see enough evidence that someone I would appoint shares that same view. I believe that the current Supreme Court is leaning too much to the liberal side.
I'm a Christian, I've been a Christian all my life. I've been a believer in the Bible since I was 10 years old. I'm very active in my church, and there is no way I would compromise my religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. And so it starts with, will they have demonstrated, in some of their other rulings, if they come from the federal judge bench, whether or not they also share that.
Because I believe that the principles that our Founding Fathers cherished, when they founded this country, and wrote the Declaration of Independence which inspired the Constitution, they were based upon biblical principles. I want to get back to those principles as president, if I run and get elected--not rewrite those documents. Source: Interview on the Bryan Fischer radio show Jan 18, 2011
Cain was an acceptable alternative to Perry supporters for one major reason... he and Gingrich were the only ones on the stage not participating in the Perry attacks, but since Gingrich has so much baggage all the support sifted to Cain by default.
But in the last two days Cain has not once, but twice insulted Perry (once by saying he couldn't vote for Perry in the general election (but could vote for Romney) and then again today with this little stunt right out of Reverend Al's play book.
Both damaged him severally in my eyes, and the combination of the two brings back memories of that turncoat Colin Powell.
To be honest, I read it right here on FR. I just need to find the thread. It was the last day or two.
