Possible presidential hopefuls like former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie may have more on their minds than trick-or-treaters and costumes this Halloween.
The date usually associated with candy-seeking children this year also marks the deadline to file to get on the Florida Republican primary ballot, likely to be held on January 31, 2012. It is the first of many deadlines candidates must meet in order to appear on the ballots in various state presidential primary contests.
The filing deadline for South Carolina's GOP primary is the following day, November 1. Other states with November filing deadlines include Michigan and Missouri, which require candidates to file paperwork by the 15th and the 22nd respectively.

Why does anyone care what primary Palin is in? It’s at the convention those votes get cast for the nominee.
Remember, Palin is not playing by the same rulebook the others are. No one knows what her strategy is except her and her team.
She already has proved time and again that she is not conventional and this will not be a conventional election cycle.

What date is she going to announce?? Well, I can't answer that but be assured I will be watching for her at 8 p.m. EDT a week from Monday. It's the night before a full moon and she just might appear. You betcha!

Oh brother... I think deadlines and primaries dates has changed a bit since 1979. Also Reagan COMPLETED TWO TERMS as Governor of California before he ran..

I kinda doubt that primary dates and filing deadlines were the same time as they are now.
Not sure what your point is about serving two terms. We have a community organizer with no executive experience and 141 days in the senate.
The media set the standard and the media is deciding who our nominee is goin to be by setting an imaginary timeframe for filing.
EVERY candidate knows the filing deadline. They will file when ready and declare when ready.
