Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele told The Daily Caller that it was a very conservative decision for 2012 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry of Texas to give in-state college tuition rates to illegal immigrant students.
I think it is actually fairly conservative to look at, very conservative, to look at solving the problem in a way that empowers people, gives them opportunities to get out of harms way fiscally or whatever and to move the state forward, he told TheDC during an interview in Washington on Friday.
I would say that, considering the feds won’t enforce border security and Perry’s options as governor is not unlimited, Steele could be correct.
Like Michael Steele would actually know anything about conservatism.
What part of ILLEGAL ALIEN do these elitist fools not understand?! Either they’re here legally or illegaly! If they are not here with the permission of the Federal government, they should get no benefits and be deported swiftly when caught! Why is this so difficult to comprehend?
Mexico doesn’t educate those in their country illegaly, they jail and deport them!!
Don’t give them any benefits whatsoever, no job, no medical (unless immediate emergency), no food stamps, no schooling, nothing - they’ll leave on their own. What’s so hard to understand that Perry?
Up here in NYS, in my hometown, only 40% graduate from high school...and the "bum rate" and crime rate and drug rate grows....as does the welfare tab.
Education was their best chance...and they don't give a damn.
TEXAS has a good plan.....AND OTHER STATES HAVE THE SAME PLAN. Perry is not alone.
Any policy that charges legal immigrants from New Mexico more than it charges illegal immigrants from Mexico does not pass my common sense test. It’s simply wrong to charge on a scale that rewards illegals. Charge everyone the same or charge everyone who is not a legal citizen and resident of Texas the same, but do not charge illegal non-Texans less than you charge legal non-Texans.
wow.
They claim to oppose illegal immigration but they....
oppose a wall
oppose mass deportations
oppose cutting off the benefits
favor “guest worker programs”
favor Mexican trucks on our streets
... drivers licenses????
They don’t sound anti-illegal alien to me.
You don’t have any idea about the present FEDERAL immigration laws, do you?
I just passed by our Home Depot close by and there are MORE mexicans standing around, and it has spilled for a block radius unto other shops across it. And here I thought they were supposed to head back to mexico because there are no jobs here.
A more conservative approach would be to deny people who are living here illegally admittance into our universities. Taxpayers shouldn’t have the extra burden thrown on them because weak-minded leaders confuse bad policy for having a heart. Have a heart for the taxpayers and American students who can’t afford to go to our universities.
His popping up to say something idiotic is a reminder as to what a relief it is to not have him as RNC chair going into this cycle.
I just know that it’s illegal to be in the US without proper authorization such as a current visa, work permit, etc. Now if the federal government doesn’t want to uphold the Constitution on that then it’s up to the states who will be sued if they do what the federal government won’t do. Something like that.
Steele is an idiot.
Which has zero to do with college tuition--zero. Grade 12 was still high school last I checked.
Might as well say: "Under FEDERAL LAW, every child, legal or illegal has the right to use a public restroom."
What does any of that have to do with college? Why do you keep talking about kindergarten; elementary, middle, and high schook (k-12) when the subject is college?
They do it because they don’t want to talk about the real issue.
Last time I took an even better look he was not the agent of "Old Kenosha Money".
What that means is he was not a Romney agent, nor was he in thrall to Preibus and that crowd.
