Three September debates have shaken-up the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Herman Cain has jumped into the top tier. Rick Perrys stumbled. Mitt Romney's holding steady.
And Michele Bachmann is hitting bottom. Thats according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday.
The new poll found Cains support has nearly tripled among GOP primary voters to 17 percent.
Thats up from 6 percent before this months debates, and puts him in what is essentially a three-way tie with Perry and Romney.

This race isn't even defined yet.
Like it or not, until Palin says what she is going to do at least 50% of GOP primary voters are on the sidelines.
If Palin runs in the GOP primary it will be a dogfight between her and Romney. If she does not run...potentially Romney and CAIN.
If Palin runs as an independent, Romney will win the GOP primary easily and it will be a nearly even 3-dog race all the way to Nov 2012.
Palin is not running as an independent.
Remember its all still early....one year out plus.....if this were a baseball game it would only be in the 3rd inning or so. Hopefully US TP conservatives can drive OUR candidate to the top this year unlike in 2008 where we got stuck with McCain’t.
That’s interesting because Jude Wanniski had a theory about politics. The Dems are the mommy party. You run to them when you need help or have failed. The GOP is the daddy party. You run to them when threatened or when you need strength.
Cain is most certainly acting in the daddy vein among the candidates. The rest seem to be switch hitters, although Gingrich has sounded solid and lucid. I wish he could be trusted.
Woo-hoo, I’ll have to reevaluate my electoral maps to add Herman Cain.
As for potential running mates, Cain’s would be the following:
1. Allen West (With all due respect to Marco Rubio, if Cain gets the nomination, Allen West is a better fit for him as VP. He compliments the foreign policy part of the ticket, takes care of FL, and my God, I don’t think the Democratic Party could stand not one, but TWO conservative AA’s on the same ticket. It could mark the beginning of the fundamental shift. It just looks, wow, any other pick might be a letdown.
2. 3. 4.? I don’t have anymore. Cain/West is dayum! That ticket looks like a lot of fun!
Over a YEAR before the election. Theses polls are useless. All it tells us is we’re waiting for the real conservative to jump into the fray.
I know one person. An elderly lady who loved Obama for months and months, despite my trying to change her mind. But, now she likes Romney, and is disappointed with Zero. I guess that says something. But I asked her why Romney? And she said, get this..."Romney has the best experience." This from a woman who picked the most inexperienced, under-qualified man ever to sit in the WH. Oh well, she is in her late 70's; must have had a bit of dementia last time around. At least she's not going to vote for Zero again.
The Cain Train is steaming along, picking up speed and passengers!
Freepers, when you click on “post” twice, your post gets posted twice.(or three times in some cases). :-)
Wouldn’t THAT be something?!?!? Then it’s a REAL contest!
The plan is to divide conservatives so that Romney wins.
Perry came in and bowled over Bachmann, then stumbled to knock his numbers down.
With all the conservatives supporting various candidates from Cain to Santorum to Perry, Gingrich, Bachmann etc. Romney gets to lead the pack.
Sarah Palin could change the game if she gets in to unite conservatives against Romney.
Regardless, Cain is the most conservative candidate in the top tier of this poll as I see it.
Some of Perry’s numbers will go to Cain when more people find out about Perry, and the more they find out about Cain. Does that make any sense?
The headline here really should read, MSM/REP EST pollsters still call the shots, and people believe whatever they say. Most Conservatives included. That`s the saddest part, even with the internet/talk radio, MSM still controls most thought in the country through it`s polls.
They are clearly pushing Herm, just as they did Bachmann and Perry before.
Yes in part to try and discourage Gov Palin from running.
Many here at FR have jumped from Bachmann to Trump to Perry,to Christie if he had only got in, and now to Cain. Yes there are many here that have done exactly that, and yes it is LAUGHABLE!
It`s a good thing that Gov Palin knows that indeed polls are for strippers, because in spite of some good polling of late, they are simply not going to allow her to have any more good numbers, it has been decided in advance I believe.
Gov Palin has the ace in the hole though, and that is the money she will raise once she announces. Once we compare money raised along side phony polls, the truth will be there for all to see.
However the saddest part is that so many supposed Conservatives here and throughout America, are still lead around by the nose by the MSM and their pollsters, very sad.
“Who are these people that keep pushing Romney?”
Try the Lame Stream Media, for starters.
He looks the part, says what people want to hear, and pulls it off. Now, we know it is lip service, but the average non political person doesn't know that.
As each candidate enters, they have their excitement and honeymoon period where they rise to the top, only to fall.
I really don't think that the fact the others attack and bring that new guy down is anything other than competition. That is because that is what this is.
It is merely a correction and leveling off to realityville.
Once this field gets set, the time has to come that Romney gets his serious vetting in debates and such.
Which brings me to the idea that the DC GOP wants the race unset because it keeps Romney safe. Could be why all the flap about Christie, or the new guy whoeveritis coming in.
HELP!....PLEASE!....Will some Conservative please fix this mess?
Some of you are comfortable electing a CEO of Auto Zone or Grandy's Fried Chicken to run the United States. I want someone with experience with legislating, dealing with crime and punishment, balancing a state budget, and/or foreign policy experience. Someone who's been held accountable to their public policy decisions and shown the fortitude to succeed and withstand the heat of elected office. Cain simply has nothing to go on. No record to examine or question. Nothing whatsoever.
This country needs a proven leader with executive experience. But not Romney.
“..Who are these people that keep pushing Romney?...”
Typically, I’ve found that folks who like Romney, at least the ones I’ve run into and spoken with, are the “independent” or “moderate” kind who voted Democrat in the last election.
I have some neighbors who are dems; they are NOT happy with FuBO at all, but have expressed interest in Romney after seeing him in the debates.
These are folks who’s political attention span is about 20 seconds. No research, no digging for info (other than the quick sound bites); just how he looks, how he sounds (not the substance of what he says) and how the candidate makes them “feel”.
Pathetic, ultimately....
