Republican strategist Ed Rollins on Monday downplayed the latest surge in rumors that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will jump into the race for the Republican presidential nomination, and instead argued in favor of another possible candidate.
Christie ought to stay running New Jersey, Rollins said on Fox News Kilmeade and Friends radio show.
If I were advising him, I would tell him not to think about [a presidential bid], Rollins said. I cant imagine Gov. Christie spending the next four or five months in the winters of Iowa, traipsing to the places hes got to go in order to be a viable candidate.
Rollins, who was Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) campaign manager until early this month, said the only rumored presidential candidate he believes still viable is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Its never too late for Gov. Palin, Rollins said. She plays by different rules.

The rumor is that Palin may have a major announcement.
I’m hoping Allen West will get in the race and she’s going to give her support to him.

beg to differ all you want; some are off the ‘will she or won’t she’ run wagon. You are speaking from your own perspective; my opinion is based on talking with family and conservative friends. They’re dismayed by the actions taken so far. Palin is dynamic and she may be able to lure some back, but there are many who are gone forever and it won’t matter if her name is on the primary ticket or not.
You have got to be on crack!
You beat me to it. Methinks our old friend Ed is looking for a job.
Some are sputtering under the pressure and incredible hard work running for President. If Sarah wants this job it time to get off her butt and get to work or watch it pass her by. Cain is willing to take the hits and hit back.
Show me where anybody said we should listen to Rollins?
Not if she wants to run in the Republican primaries.
That would be consistent with what I have seen so far, thats for sure.
No, it isn't. People writing in Sarah's name for straw polls is different from a primary ballot.
Does anyone know that? Does a filing in a state for that states Presidential primary typically require a signature of the person whose name will be on the ballot?
The Republican Party of South Carolina cannot add Sarah's name to the state's Republican primary ballot without her explicit application.
Each state has different filing requirements for political parties that nominate by convention/caucus (R's & D's) and each state party has its own filing requirements/forms.

I am surprised because I would think that CNN and MSNBC would love his type
I am surprised because I would think that CNN and MSNBC would love his type or the left leaning Fox
Sarah is running on the GOP ticket!
But just humor me on this independent thing...I think she could win as a indy, because I suspect some other left leaning fellow will run as a indy, it`s possible.
Say what you will but, IMHO, there aren’t enough dead voters, illegal aliens and phony “provisional” union ballots in the world to beat Palin/Cain 2012. Like I said, JMO.
I doubt she'd be that unconventional. Deciding to sit out an early state's primary would be disastrous. Momentum counts. McCain had the nomination clinched by the end of Feb. 2008, six full months before the Republican nominating convention.
Then in their hearts they are wrong. She will run or she won't, but thinking that people would not vote for her because she waited to late, in their opinion to run, is just silly. Do people really abandon their beliefs so quickly?
Maybe we are building the Golden Calf a little early, been done before you know.
Actually, she told David Brody that the end of September or October is her timeframe for a decision. So it could be another month before she makes a decision.
Rollins fishing for a new ride; the other one fizzled out.
She will have to file explicitly as herself in Illinois, too. I’m not aware of any state that would allow a candidate to be passively entered on the ballot.
>> “I agree with Ed Rollins, but hes always wrong.” <<
.
He’s trying to put a curse on Palin.
>> “Did he email his resume to Team Palin?” <<

Hillary would be more his speed.
