I think some of this could be used as a partial plot for the next rambo movie.

“The only explanation for our prolonged detention is the 32 years of mutual hostility between America and Iran,” said Bauer. “The irony is Sarah Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility. We were convicted of espionage, because we are American.”

Ron White is 100% correct. You CAN'T fix stupid -- it appears NOTHING can fix stupid.

“We do not believe such human rights violations on the part of our government justify what has been done to us. Not for a moment. However, we do believe these actions on the part of the U.S. provide an excuse for other governments, including the government of Iran to act in kind.”

These idiots weren't smart enough to argue their own position? How can you equate hiking near a border (super stupid on their part) with bomb-throwing terrorists? I sure as hell hope my tax dollars weren't spent on freeing these two ungrateful idiots.

I sure hope they feel the same when some Muslim radical is just about to lop their heads off.

Slow learners.

BTW - “I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran”...I would love it if some enterprising reporter would ask him a simple follow up question - “Which policy, specifically”.

I haven’t heard anyone ask those fools why they ignored all advice to the contrary and went ahead with their “hike.”

Sean Penn et al will get back their investment in these liberal fools for the book and movie rights to come

These fools listened to prisoner torture for 2 years but they “oppose US hostility” to this regime.

uh...

Well, it seems we’ve finally found a use for Sean Penn and Noam Chomsky. Is there some way that their public anti-American screeds could cut down to the minimum level which would allow them to continue functioning as hostage negotiators with lunatic anti-American regimes, and we could be spared hearing them otherwise?

“The irony is Sarah Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility.

Initially, I thought that these people were REALLY spies. Who the hell goes for a jaunt along the Iranian/Iraqi Border?

NOW, I think they are just a trio of perverted late blooming flower children. I think its a shame they were released. They needed a few more years in their to “re-educate” them about the REASONS we hate the Iranians. The course they got was apaprently too short.

These leftists were held because they were fool enough to go hiking on the Iran border and the Iranian government figured to score a lot of points politically and influence wise by taking and holding them.

My guess is that these two hoped from the start for some kind of contact with the Iranians that they could then use in an effort to push their own anti-American political agenda.

They found out that the Mullahs hate us all. Despite this, and the US Government working to get them freed, they are now continuing with their original script to blame it all on American foreign policy...basically another version of, "it's Bush's fault."

These embiciles do not even realize that they were lucky to avoid what happened to Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg, both of whom were beheaded.

...oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility.

Of course, to liberals it's always US policies. The kidnapping and illegal imprisonment of dozens of US embassy employees under Carter, Iran's present drive for nuclear weapons, and its avowed aim to destroy Israel have nothing to do with it.

The kindest thing I can say about the politics of Noam Chomsky is that, by all accounts, he is a first rate linguist.
