An illegal that swam the Rio Grand yesterday will be able to get in state tuition today. To believe anything else is grossly naive.

Wrong again. They have to have lived in TX for at least three years and graduated or gotten a GED from a TX school. Facts don't matter much to you, do they?

That is one of the best explanations of the in-state tuition issue I've read. Too bad Perry can't give that type defense, just a bit more concise. Its a tough nut to crack.

Perry does have a less than ideal stance on immigration. Honest disagreement is one thing, but his heartless remark was over the line and has raised the vitriol against him. Toss in Perry's poor debate performance last Thursday and the dumping on Perry continues non-stop with his campaign unable to stop the bleeding.

Between now and the next debate at Darmouth on Oct 11th. Perry&Co. need to make a strong statement why he should be the GOP nominee. They must figure out a way to expose Romney's real record of political expediency and liberalism and play smartball in promoting Perry's long record of conservatism as Texas Governor.

Palin is not our best bet to defeat Obama and that is of primary importance.

The difference between hard-core Palin supporters and the rest of us is that the hard cores care about promoting Palin--I care about defeating Obama and stopping this march to socialism.

I am not emotionally invested in anyone--only the idea of stopping Obama.

Good point. But the larger point is why should we give benefits to criminals just because they pay their taxes, how ever much that may be? The bottom line is they are breaking the law to be here! They don’t have to be here illegally, they choose to. It really makes a mockery of all those who come here legally & do it the right & legal way.

Birthright Citizenship is of dubious legality. That aside the author of this purposely conflates anchor children with illegal aliens.
Illegal alien children are not responsible for the crimes of their parents. No one wants to put them in jail. But a fundamental of American law and before that British common law iss the idea that children do no benefit from the crimes of their parents. Deporting these criminals is not punishment but justice.

As I have told you, the government has been paying farmers to fence off running water for years, and the mexicans turned the river into a cess pool, it was only americans building them sewage treatment plants that has stopped that. And government also buys the pipe to run the water in for cattle, but since we built the treatment plants clean water can be pump directly from them. The water issue is a red herring, period, nothing wrong with running pipe through concrete.

Yes, he will be fine. In fact, some of the disgruntled who left his campaign have already been exposed for the real reasons they left. You’re kind of late to this party :-)

Ah, Sarah is NOT in this campaign. I have NO clue if she will run or NOT. But you sure are obsessed about her for reasons that will NOT fit in what other words you put together. Governor Perry is suppose to be after my vote, NOT all the illegals that have invaded this nation. That alone disqualifies him as a leader for this nation.

>>Without a doubt, Perry blundered badly in the last debate.<<

Blundered? You’re not serious.

He said EXACTLY what he thinks, clearly, articulately, and his comments on in-state tuition for the children of illegals, which accompanied his charge of “heartlessness” were the most passionate things he said all night.

It is a clear insight into the LIBERALISM that lives in the heart of Rick Perry, for all the world to see.

Anyone who does not see it is an idiot.

Anyone who wants to spend their time on Free Republic trying to tell us that we didn’t really see what our eyes saw, or we didn’t hear what our ears heard, is likewise an idiot.

Yet we have FReepers trying to put lipstick on the pig, and telling us not to pay any attention to the little man behind the curtain.

Not gonna happen.

If he alters/changes/modifies his position on those two issues, Perry again goes to the top of my list.

Romney does that all the time. He has three or four positions on every issue. And he'll cycle through them until you agree with him. But I bet he is not on the top of your list. For good reason! I hold Perry to the same standard. Thus, with your last statement, I completely agree : Go Herman Cain!

Then Palin is also disqualified. This is my point--they are ALL disqualified.

Please explain Palin's SS position. I don't get this? http://2012.republican-candidates.org/Palin/Social-Security.php

Do a google search on “Rick Perry Amnesty”

All you can find is innuendo and smears.
Rick Perry is solidly against illegal Immigration

I wish Freepers would take a look around at what is going on here.

Obama is off golfing while the entire Western financial world is collapsing and while Arab winds of change are sweeping the Middle east under his passive aggressive hand.

And here we are.. on Free Republic beating up Rick Perry.

Calling him “slick” and a “crony capitalist” and at the same time calling him a “rube” and a “moron”

you don’t think there is a practical problem for border state governments if the federal government refuses to deal with the problem?

Did you just change the "problem" from instate tuition for invaders, to invaders crossing federally unenforced borders?

Of course, I believe the latter is substantial and significant, rising to the level of a failure of a Constitutional duty by the Executive branch.

By its definition, the hardship caused by that failure has no place in an argument that tries to justify instate tuition for the invaders; i.e., it isn't relevant.

Facts do not mean much to you do they, if the government knows they are there illegal for three years they are aiding in law breaking. How do they check to see if they have been there illegally stealing off of Americans.
