Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is asking fellow Republicans not to count out Rick Perry.
Daniels says it's too early for what he calls "last rites" over the Perry campaign, and he notes that Perry hasn't been in the race for very long.
Daniels says people ought to cut Perry some slack and give him a little time.
Daniels also says he's worried that the party's nominee will end up playing it safe in light of President Barack Obama's political weakness, and merely campaign as a default option to Obama's re-election.

If not Perry, it's Romney and if it's Romney, it's Obama.
And I would also like to remind everyone:
Editorial: Memo To GOP: The Foe Is Obama, Not Perry
http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/585924/201109231847/GOP-Must-Keep-Eyes-On-Prize.htm
“Texas Gov. Rick Perry must have felt a bit like Gen. Custer at Little Big Horn at the Orlando debate, a made-for-TV contrivance in which those who have a real chance to be president must take pokes and jabs from those who don’t.
Still, we must understand that while the goal is the nomination, the prize is the White House. Lost in the brouhaha over tuition for illegal aliens and mandated vaccines is the fact we simply can’t afford four more years of President Obama.
Perry has given awkward responses. How can he debate the president, the whispers ask. Sound-bite debates in which you thrust and parry (no pun intended) with eight other candidates, as well as the pundits, are one thing. Comparing your job-creating pro-growth record in a booming state to the record of the arguably worst president in American history is something else.”
Our nation is in crises, we have no time to elect another empty suit politics as usual Establishment drone.
neither Perry nor Romney are fit to be President.
Perry ping
Oh yeah, that’s just what we need a Slacker.
Perry’s still in the race?
Perry demonstrated himself complete unfit to be our canidate Thursday. HE did it. Childishly blaming everyone else for what HE did only lessens his stature here.
Daniels, isn’t this the same establishment rino who refused to accept the fact O’s a socialist?
FUMD
Daniels is also super soft in illegals.
They can take a hike.
Why is that? Are they the only two running?
Are you saying, you think the black man cannot win because he is black??/
in=on, oops!
And regarding the Florida straw poll — it is straw poll, not a primary.
And while people tout that Reagan. GHW Bush and Dole won it, what is being ignored is that NO STRAW POLL WAS HELD in 2000 and 2007, due to lack of interest. People are making more of it, than it’s worth, just because Perry didn’t win it.
How Saturday’s FL straw poll differs from Ames
Our betters have spoken. Its time to fall in line and do as we’re told. LOL
If not Perry, it's Romney and if it's Romney, it's Obama.
Yes, it is that simple.
Let’s have some perspective:
If not Perry, it’s Romney and if it’s Romney, it’s Obama.

You want some persepctive? First, Perry sucks at debating, and he has that little amnesty problem. Second, it’s way to early for you to come to this conclusion. And now to really make your head explode; if Palin enters...well, lets just say many of these folks will blow away like chaff. ;-)
“either Perry nor Romney are fit to be President.”
1. Really, just why is that?
2. You can only elect one of the ones who are running.
3. None of the others have any chance of beating Obama. Romney doesn’t have any chance either — too many conservatives will stay home and we get 4 more years of Obama.
ut oh!
a rino begging for perry.
Sorry Daniels but we are heartless..
Runt Daniels was the rino establishment candidate of choice, so you are saying the herd animals stick together.
