People who want to legalize drugs like meth should be locked up in a room with a bunch of meth or coke heads for an hour. I think it would change their minds.

It’s a tempting solution to grasp at, but is not clearly thought through. Street crime would go up, not down, because now you would have even more psychopaths out there that cannot support themselves, and need to find the money for guns, bling, street rides, and all the other necessities of life for gang-bangers and thugs.

Thugs with brains rotting away that need to find money but can’t do so selling drugs anymore so what else is there? Carjacking; purse snatching; kidnapping; home invasion; prostitution. Thugs that can’t reason - that don’t care if they die but more importantly if others will also.

If you want to walk around in a society of truly insane people legalize meth and coke. And if you have a CCW permit, great, but how about your kids and your parents? Who’s going to protect them from these zombies?

I'm fine with your war on drugs if you give me my Constitutional rights back.

Freedom from asset forfeiture.

The right to buy sudafed when I need it.

You don't believe in Constitutional rights though, do you?

I hate druggies. I hate them so much I want to give them so much junk they die ASAP and leave the rest of us in peace.

The US can't even stop distributors of counterfeit cigarettes, or cigarettes marked with counterfeit tax stamps, and there the profit is relatively small compared to the supposed profits in illegal drug trade.

But with many departments effectively abandoning any and all property crime investigations, they've already opened up the barn doors to a lot of meth heads to openly rummage through homes at their leisure. After all, it is unlikely that anyone's going to show up, take fingerprints, and even more unlikely to actually compare those fingerprints to prints on file.

I understand how desperate the government of Mexico became, and why they took the action they did, and indeed, it was targeted at 'soft' drugs, but once basic police work goes out the window, you simply enable criminals to escalate to a higher level. It's very long been the case of Mexico police ignoring pretty much all property crimes, and their escalation might be a window into our own future if we continue to permit our police departments to let so much crime slip under the radar.

I've never seen a 'DUI' checkpoint unmanned, or a speed trap without an officer and radar gun installed, yet I have heard officers state they won't be coming out to the scene of a property crime, as it just isn't worth the trouble. I'm sorry, it's the stupid speed traps and illegal searches that aren't worth the trouble, and every effort should be made to handle property crimes as quickly and efficiently as possible.

you said it all. Look what those psychos in the Mexican drug gangs do. They are consuming what they sell. They skin people alive, they cut them up with bandsaws (photos are on the internet) they cut heads off, they skewer them then hang them from bridges. Legalize these poisons here and you will get the same thing. These drugs bring out the worst in people if not right away then eventually. You will get more brain damaged idiots who are incapable of real work. More petty crime

You obviously overlooked the easy solution for all of this. You see those that want an end to the "War on Drugs" do realize that usage would skyrocket, so to keep the millions of new druggies from committing crimes for their fixes, they want the government do distribute drugs for FREE. Of course, NOTHING is actually free, so, yes, they want you and I to pay for the state-produced meth that will destroy millions of lives and cripple society. But, hey, at least we ended the War on Drugs.
