Christie back in spotlight as Perry sags
Politico ^ | 9/24/11 | Maggie Haberman

With the party’s frontrunner sagging, Chris Christie is reconsidering pleas from Republican elites and donors to run for president in 2012, two Republican sources told POLITICO.

The New Jersey governor has indicated he is listening to big-money backers and Republican influence-makers, and will let them know in roughly a week whether he has moved off his threat-of-suicide vow to stay on the sidelines of a presidential race that remains amorphous heading into the fall, the two sources said.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s candidacy has failed to clear a basic bar with elites and some donors, and his shoddy debate performance in Orlando has only highlighted the window for someone who Republicans searching for a Mitt Romney alternative can rally around.

Christie’s potential candidacy has been an increasingly fevered fantasy of a certain cadre of some media and business elites — mostly based in New York, with a smattering of California technology and entertainment players — since last summer. That’s when he showed up at a Sun Valley conference hosted by the investment banker Allen and Co. and wowed the crowd, including Rupert Murdoch, with what many in attendance described as a nimble mind and a speaking style that was both articulate and blunt-spoken.

Put your emotions about Governor Perry on hold and go re-watch the debate.

He is so clearly unfit for the job of President.

Perry is another empty suit Democrat Lite professional politician.

Perry is a shameless crony capitalist, twist in the political wind, say anything poser.

With the USA, and the World, on the verge of fiscal ruin, we cannot afford in 2012 to play yet another round of the "pass the baton" game the professional political class loves to play every election season.

Every 4 years Conservatives bash each other because no single candidate is pure enough to please everyone.

Are we electing a President or a Priest?

In the world of politics, month and half old “polls” are as old as dirt.

I see the nomination as being Romney against the teaparty candidate. Is Christie a TEA Partier? He fits in a space between Romney and the others. (and there are not many spaces he fits into)

Some people are still looking at two and one week old polls to declare Perry is still leading. This weeks new data will show how bad the debate hurt him. Not just his poor debate performance but the immigration issue is what is bleeding him and last week it was social security and gardasil. Texas Toast!

You are going to be very shocked if she decides to run. She can and will campaign. She can do it like no other. When she gets in for the good of the country Perry should quit and endorse her. It would be the most conservative thing he has ever done.

Rick Perry isn’t in trouble because of the fantasy of Sarah Palin. Rick Perry is in trouble because of the reality of Rick Perry.

Perry is not good at debates, Romney is completely 100% unexceptable, Romney is pro abortion, and I will never vote for a baby killer or someone who advocated killing babies till he started running for president.

The blue-blood GOP establishment is worried that a Bachmann, Santorum, or Cain might rise to the top tier as Perry falls

Yeah, right. Perry can flub every debate and it still won't help those three out of single digits.

I just saw Christie on a local news report 2 days ago. He looks like he has put added more weight on his already morbidly obese body.

This tell me he doesn't want to run. A Republican who looks like he's one crisis away from a massive heart attack will never win the presidency. Christie knows that the press will see to that.

Perry can't run away from the truth of his record. He is a globalist open-border Establishment candidate. He has sold out to La Raza, the Muslim lobby (CAIR), Merck, agribusiness eager for cheap immigrant labor, and every other special interest he needs to perpetuate his life-long political career.

Perry must be sunk completely. It is outrageous to have seen the Tea Party, the last hope of America, being coopted by this disgusting phony. Conservatives need to do their homework on the candidates, and not let the country-clubbers tell us who is "electable."

That’s good...he’s not going to be President, so he won’t have to quit his current activities, or leave Texas.

Oh, we don't know that yet, now do we? It's just the beginning of the campaign and most of us haven't made a decision yet. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

After talking to Texans about the businesses that are moving to Texas, he must be pretty persuasive, he talked a lot of people into moving their businesses to Texas. What do you suppose Romney did to get business to move to MA? Oh, wait, most of the people moved from MA to New Hampshire didn't they. Hmmmmmmmm.

Right, Perry is a big government, illegal alien lover over rights of American citizens.

And exactly how do you get that? Because some mediot told you? Because it's the talking points that were handed out to you?

You need to stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

“After talking to Texans about the businesses that are moving to Texas, he must be pretty persuasive, he talked a lot of people into moving their businesses to Texas.”

Especially when you give them anything they ask for - and the Hispanic population can send their kids to college on your dime, too! And Bi-National Insurance! Hot damn!

And who gives a shit about what happens in the Northeast? The whole stinking place can fall into the ocean as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather cut those idiots loose and let them fend for themselves. Let’s all head down for third Manassas, is my opinion.

He still high in the polls because no polls have been done since he shot himself in the head at the debate Thursday.

Look, good for you you love your candidate but it time to put your emotions on hold and actually look at what Perry did.

In the world of politics, month and half old “polls” are as old as dirt.

Fine.

Now that Perry is wounded, all the more reason for Supergirl Sarah Palin to come in to save the day or get out of the way so that her supporters to do use all their energy attacking any conservative whose name is not "Sarah Palin" thereby helping Mitt Romney win the GOP nomination.

No NFL quarterback named "Bret Favre" ever won a Super Bowl by teasing and teasing and teasing about playing from his front porch in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

There was, however, an NFL quarterback named "Brett Favre" that actually WON a Super Bowl by, .... you know, .... actually SHOWING UP to play football.

... Levin ... then later in the program he had an update saying that the reports were not true...

Even more than that, he opined that both reports - of ChristieCreme getting in AND the one of ChristieCreme NOT getting in, originated from the same camp. The intention was just to get his name in the post-debate news.
