Members of the conservative gay rights group GOProud are demanding an apology from Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum for what they call his disrespectful comments directed at a gay soldier in Thursday night's GOP presidential debate.
"Tonight, Rick Santorum disrespected our brave men and women in uniform, and he owes Stephen Hill, the gay soldier who asked him the question about Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal, an immediate apology," said GOProud's Christopher Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia in a Thursday night press release.
During the Fox News/Google-sponsored debate, which took place in Orlando, Florida, a gay soldier deployed in Iraq asked the candidates if they would take measures to "circumvent" the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," if elected president.
Some audience members audibly booed the soldier -- a moment the GOP candidates on stage chose to ignore.
GOProud also noted that Santorum, who answered the question, declined to thank the soldier for his service, and called the repeal of DADT "social experimentation" - and "tragic."
"I would say any type of sexual activity has absolutely no place in the military," Santorum responded. "And the fact that they're making a point to include it as a provision within the military that we are going to recognize a group of people and give them a special privilege to -- and removing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' I think tries to inject social policy into the military. And the military's job is to do one thing, and that is to defend our country."

But no, he needed to tap dance by saying "sex has no place in the military".
What this tells me is that he's playing for the general election "undecideds" who are likely to be influenced by the MSM.
All the candidates will play for this vote sooner or later.
Don’t pay attention to the stink bomb thrower.
Fortunately for practising homosexuals, there is never any blood splattered around on a battlefied and so the environment is not made all that more dangerous by what is in essence an extension of germ warfare.
Anyone who thinks this needs a /sarc tag needs to ask themselves if they would want Doc treating their open wound after just treating Chrissy’s open wound.)
Offer no apology Rick Santorum.
I have never felt the need in my life to go up to someone and say “Hi I’m leenie312 and my sexual orientation is usually on the bottom” No one’s business but my own and the hubs. Hate it that it is pushed into our faces...Don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t care...keep it to yourself. The bedroom door needs to be shut.
I don’t know what your problem with me is, but then again, I don’t care.
So you don’t thank women for their military service?
Dont pay attention to the stink bomb thrower.

Good advice. But it pisses me off that anyone thnks a gay soldier who served in the military deserves respect.
Piss on them.
I am opposed to the repeal of DADT.
However, I would never Boo an a member of the American Military.
This was the toughest question of the night, and it happened to be directed, exclusively, at (surprise, surprise) Rick Santorum. Fox had the opportunity to extend it among all participants but chose not to. Don’t tell me the media, even FOX, aren’t part of the debate. Don’t tell me they weren’t protecting the front-runners. Shame on them.
As to Santorum’s failure to thank this heretofore LIAR for his “service,” there’s a good chance that that thank-you would have dishonored the service of all the honorable GIs who weren’t deceptive about their beliefs or habits.
Look at this thread and most other FR threads tagged as "Homosexual Agenda".
What you'll see is a lot of freepers saying in effect "Yes, damn right I want to throw PFC Steve out of the military because he has anal sex with other men!" and those freepers will view any candidate's position short of that as a contemptible compromise.
Is "Yes, damn right I want to throw PFC Steve out of the military because he has anal sex with other men!" a stand that will win the November 2012 election? I confess I do not know.
I hope you know what you can do with your suggestions.
????...sigh....
One thing is for sure. If Obama gets a second term, open homosexuality in the military is irreversible.
He doesn't like that some CONSERVATIVES don't believe that gays can be conservatives. Gays can be conservative (and Christian) as much as a business owner (like Warren Buffett) can be a liberal.
Saying Gays can't be Conservative is judging the whole group by the people who are at the gay pride parades. (Where you won't ever find my friend!!)
You contradict yourself.
Look - why don’t you just come out and say it.
I’ll make it easy for you. Just cut/paste this sentiment:
I - trumandogz - support gays serving in the military.
I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way. - The man
Please cite where I said that I supported the repeal of DADT.
However, as an patriotic American, I would never Boo a person who serves his country, especially in a time of war.
