You are obviously wearing Perry-colored glasses. The tuition deal for illegals does two things: it lets the immigrants know that we are here to HELP them, even though they have broken the law; and it thus acts as a magnet to bring more illegals in. Conservatives uphold the law and do not bend it.

Perry is toast. As Drudge said: "Perry Doubles Down on Illegals." Bad move. Game, set, match.

I don’t understand why people are hung up on the tuition issue.

PERRY HAS SAID HE WOULD LEGALIZE THE ILLEGALS!

That’s far more important than the tuition break.

Why do the stupid debate moderators focus on this tuition bit and NOT ASK HIM ABOUT HIS STATEMENT IN FAVOR OF LEGALIZING THE ILLEGALS!

If you truly think the nomination fight will turn on immigration, you've been under a rock for decades. No prominent member of the political class is significantly more inclined to defend our culture against unrestrained illegal immigration than Perry. They are all dangerously weak on this point. Republicans want cheap labor and Dems want ignorant voters who have no attachment to the American tradition of liberty. It's a bummer, but there you are.

You may not understand this, but most voters do and the number who will make a decision based on anything Perry says about illegals is vanishingly small. Perry's fate won't turn on his attitudes toward illegal immigration, or on his decision to require gardasil injections or on his aggressive fund raising practices. He isn't going to rise or fall based on how well (or poorly) he debates. All of this is much ado about nothing.

The successful Governor of Texas will beat the one and done former Governor of Massachusetts hands down in a Republican Presidential primary. Barring a late entry, Perry's the nominee.
