In state means you don't have to pay the 22k a year. Instead they may owe a whopping 3k a year. Maybe only an 80k gift to illegals.
People outside the state coming to school there would not get in state tuition and would pay the whole 22k even if citizens.

When I moved to Texas in 2007 I was enraged that illegals got instate and we had to pay non resident tuition until we met the legal requirements for residency.

My understanding is that only about 1% of enrollments are these kids of illegals.

99% are not.

Is this really a as big of an issue as we’ve made it to be?

What is a better workable alternative, considering that the feds don’t allow quick deportment.
