yawn.

no one cares.

Seriously, no one but us political freaks watches these debates. This campaign will be won on the campaign trail, during interviews, and with ads, like all campaigns are. And at all of those Perry shines.

Newt is probably the only one up there capable of leading this country out of the mess. His past personal life turns off lots of people and that disqualifies him unfortunately.

The United States has over 300,000,000 people ~ and only 25,000 Texans and 75,000,000 Mexicans are eligible for instate tuition in Texas (with some minor exceptions).

You’re right, and I don’t disagree, but the problem is, Obongo now puts on his best black accent, makes sure his face is nice and dark by playing golf in the sun and calls himself black, is married to a black wookie and has black kids, therefore most of the DUmmies out there think he is black and the same as Herman Cain.

“...and being in support of tax payer funded education for anchor babies of illegal aliens,, (this is a rerun of the so-called “compassionate conservatism” which is essentially “liberalism”), is the real deal killer re: Perry for me.”

Before I ramble a bit, let me be clear that I oppose the whole anchor baby thing and I oppose amnesty for illegals.

Anchor babies born here have a dual citizenship: American and whatever country where their parent(s) are citizens. Federal law requires that ALL children, regardless of citizenship/legality, must be educated in our public schools. The same law about education applies even if the child was brought into the country illegally by parents.

Such kids, illegal or anchor babies, in Texas that have attended schools at least three years and graduated from high school are considered to be residents of the State. As residents, they are being granted the right to pay in-state tuition rates at State colleges, trade schools, etc., if they have filed an affadavit that they are currently pursuing US citizenship.

Minor children can only apply for citizenship after they reach majority age. These kids, however, may have lived in Texas all of their lives or for most of their youth years, so they are assimilated into the American culture.

It makes more sense to allow them to pursue a higher education which will make them a more productive member of our society. The alternative is to refuse them an opportunity for success and let them live off of the food stamps and welfare provided by the taxpayers.

Unlike the lies spouted by a couple of folks (Romney) in the debate, the Texas taxpayers are not paying to give illegals a college education and are not preventing US citizens in Texas from attending the State colleges. Many of the State colleges will only except students that were ranked in the top 10% of their HS graduating classes. The children of illegals have to qualify through their grades to get entrance to the State colleges just like everyone else.

[Instate tuition pays less than the full cost of the education being received. Somebody else makes up the difference.]

My kids would pay instate tuition and at $22 thousand a year ‘that ain’t cheap’. Colleges are overpriced anyway. Perry wants to get a $10 thousand a year program. Don’t know if it can be done except in small local colleges.

Tenured Professors get their ‘grants’ and work on their own little projects while student ‘instructors’ teach the kids. It’s a sham.

The state so subsidises CA state colleges that in state tuition is about 5k with books in most cases.

Have a niece and nephew now in schools.

Bachmann is done. All her supporters left her and went to Romney. Her attacks on Perry helped Romney not her whether that was her intention or not. She made a mistake going after Perry is such a shrill manner and choosing to demagogue the issue when she thought she scored some points.

HERMAN CAIN BIOGRAPHY

Herman Cain grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with loving parents and little else. His father worked three jobs—as a janitor, a barber and a chauffeur—and his mother was a domestic worker. Even though these jobs required hard work and little glamour, his parents knew this life was better than the dirt farms upon which they grew up. They also knew that this hard work was the key to achieving their American Dreams.

Herman’s parents had two dreams. First, they wanted to own their own house. Secondly, they wanted both of their children to graduate from college. During the segregation era in the Deep South, these aspirations might have seemed lofty, but they knew that if they kept their faith in God, faith in themselves and faith in the greatest country on the Earth, they could achieve.

The first dream was realized in a modest brick house on Albert Street in Atlanta, Georgia. After years of saving from his many jobs, Herman’s father surprised the whole family, even his wife, by purchasing a home for their family. The second dream was realized when Herman graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in mathematics in 1967. His brother, Thurman, would go on to graduate from Morris Brown College.

Inspired by the work ethic and character of his parents, Herman continued his education by earning his Master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University while working full-time developing fire control systems for ships and fighter planes for the Department of the Navy. Though Herman enjoyed using his talents as a civilian employee for the Navy, he gravitated towards the culture of business.

Herman returned to his home of Atlanta to begin working as a computer systems analyst for the Coca-Cola Company. After considerable success at Coca-Cola, he moved to the Pillsbury Company. Within a short period of time, Herman rose to position of Vice President. Although the comforts of a corner office on the 31st floor of a majestic corporate building seemed satisfying, Herman knew that he needed a challenge.

He became the regional vice president of Pillsbury’s Burger King division. This meant starting from the “ground up,” dodging grease fires and broiling hamburgers. Herman was assigned to lead a low performing region of 450 of their restaurants. Within three years, it became the best performing region in the company.

Energized by overcoming the many obstacles of his job at Burger King, Herman took on the biggest challenge of his career. He accepted the call to become the President and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, a company that was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. In just 14 months, Herman returned Godfather’s to profitability and he led his management team to a buyout of the company.

His professional successes garnered the respect and admiration of industry peers who named him the President of the National Restaurant Association. Under Herman’s administration, the group grew significantly and began to lobby for the interests of America’s restaurateurs and small business owners.

In 1994, as head of the National Restaurant Association, he had the opportunity to speak with President Clinton during a nationally televised town hall meeting. Here, Herman challenged the President regarding the impact on businesses if his health care overhaul proposal were passed. President Clinton attempted to assure him and the millions of viewers watching at home that his legislation would not harm American business owners and their employees.

Herman was skeptical. “Quite honestly Mr. President, your calculations are incorrect,” he said. “In the competitive marketplace, it simply doesn’t work that way.” His words echoed across America, and Newsweek named Herman Cain the primary saboteur of Hillarycare.

Through these and other appearances on behalf of the National Restaurant Association, Herman began working with business leaders across all sectors of the American economy. This led to his acceptance of a position on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and he was subsequently elected their chairman. In this role, he analyzed economic conditions in the region and notified the Federal Reserve of how their policies should respond.

Most recently, he hosted a radio talk show, “The Herman Cain Show,” on Atlanta’s WSB 750 AM/ 95.5 FM. He serves as a regular contributor on several broadcast networks and as a keynote speaker at conferences and events around the nation.

Despite the many professional commitments of his life, Herman continues to enjoy most the time spent with family and friends. As his children got married and had their own children, he knew that he had an extraordinary obligation to do what he could to make this a safe and prosperous nation for them. The paramount joys in his life are his wife, Gloria, his children and his grandchildren.

If they don’t get citizenship status, it’s not amnesty.

am·nes·ty

[am-nuh-stee] Show IPA noun, plural -ties, verb, -tied, -ty·ing.
noun
1.
a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2.
Law . an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.
3.
a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.
verb (used with object)
4.
to grant amnesty to; pardon.

Do you see anything in there about citizenship? Nope. If they are not fined or somehow penalized, then it IS amnesty!

The main value of these debates is practice for the general election debates. Perry has a lot of work to do. Palin needs to be in if she is planning on running - she needs the practice, too. Mitt has lots of practice, but no soul. Santorum is a good guy, as are Newt & Cain, but I don’t see any of them as having any charisma.

The general election OUGHT to be easy, but with this slate of candidates...I’m worried. Very worried.

Gingrich did excellent today, (I cannot stand him) but not as good as Herman Cain. And Gary Johnson had a good throw away line about the neighbor’s dog shit and Obama’s “shovel ready jobs” at the end. Which ended the whole thing on a great, united ANTI OBAMA note. I dont like Huntsman either, but I liked him thinking highly of Herman Cain and shaking his hand later. The Dems must have hated all this, particularly the United GOP Front/anti-Obama election tone crescendoing at the end.

Potlatch, just his stance on in-state-intuition for the illegals has been a turn off for me. All the bennies for illegals is (like it was stated, tonight,) a ‘magnet’ for them to come across the border illegally - and then take from our pockets, what OUR OWN CITIZEN’S CHILDREN must pay DOUBLE or more, for. It is not fair, and it should not even be allowed, IMHO.

Then, on Hannity tonight, Michelle Bachman said that she has proof that Perry was paid BIG bucks from the drug companies to force the young girls of Texas to get a vaccine against STDs.

I don’t know what is true. I lived in (and LOVED) Texas - I cried for three years after I had to leave. But this kind of political ploy is very damaging to the Governor.

If it is false, I hope he will be able to substantiate that.

[someone is very confused. I’m not surprised it is a Perry defender.]

Thank you for your kind correction.
Yes, I messed up and already posted it to another person. I remembered the ‘7’ from the small Alaska population.

Texas ONLY has 25,145,561 MILLION PEOPLE.

Census population, April 1, 2010

#2. Texas; 25,145,561 MILLION

#47. Alaska; 710,231 THOUSAND

As of this very moment, Sarah Palin doesn’t “support” any of them. They are rising....and/or falling....all on their very own. No one can blame her for what happens on that stage or on the campaign trail. They are on their own. And SO is she.
