WASHINGTON The Obama administration was worried about the financial health of a troubled solar energy company and the political fallout it could bring even as officials publicly declared the company in good shape, newly released emails show.
An email from a White House budget official to a co-worker discussed the likely effect of a default by Solyndra Inc. on President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.
"The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad," an official from the Office of Management and Budget wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a senior OMB official. "The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up."

As you sow, so shall you reap.
But did he have to sow with a half billion in taxpayer dollars?
So even they knew this in January. Weren’t they still singing the praises of this money hole since then?
So the “loan” was political payback.
How much taxes did this company pay?
He ought to be more worried about LightSquared. It has now come to “light” that he was an early investor in the company and refused to put it in a blind trust. The republicans need to stay on the issues of course - but they also need to address the blatant corruption of this administration.
don’t see why as the media are do their best to bury this.
I swear if we had a fair media this mans numbers would be in single digits but because we don’t have a free media we have to watch the media squirm, lie, and cover for their messiah.
It really is pathetic .
Bob Beckel on that awful “The Five” says he won’t talk about Solargate anymore. A sure sign it’s hitting the mark.
Imagine if this were Bush and an oil company?
Pray for America
It's not the facts of a bankruptcy that will hurt 1,100 workers that will be bad, it's the "optics", the way it looks politically, that will be bad.
These sons of bitches only care about how it effects their control on the levers of power, not a damn bit about any human suffering.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that his committee plans to investigate government loan programs to private corporations in light of allegations of improper dealings between the White House and failed energy company Solyndra and wireless start-up LightSquared.
“I want to see when the president and his cronies are picking winners and losers it wasn’t because there were large contributions given to them,” the chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee said Tuesday morning on C-SPAN.
