CBS/AP) CINCINNATI A tea party activist is challenging U.S. House Speaker John Boehner in the 2012 Republican primary.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Lewis announced his candidacy on Friday.
Lewis, 26, is the father of a 2-year-old girl, and says he plans to run on a single issue Boehner's support of a federal budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which he calls "the largest killer of unborn babies in America."
Lewis told the newspaper he plans to run graphic...

I think it is a good thing for our leaders to be challenged.
Go baby, go!
If he is running on a single issue, he is DIW. I hope he “extends and revises” his reasons for running, because if I have any extra money, I will donate to his campaign. Like Obama, Boehner has done a lot of things that a savvy candidate can attack.
as david barton says,
abortion is our key issue.
all others follow.
Good!!!!
Get rid of that weakling. He is working against us.
Funding planned parenthood, the budget and debt ceiling debacle, the stimulus bills, etc., etc. We need people in place who have common sense enough to know how to balance a budget honestly and straight forwardly and will disavow and ignore all the political wrangling in order to simply do what is right.
There are a whole lot of issues that Boner could be vulnerable on. It makes no sense to limit oneself to this issue only.
“Get rid of that weakling. He is working against us.”
I imagine a lot of dems are saying the same thing about Obama.
That was my first thought when reading the title. It helps keep them straight.
A true politician for the people...."If I win the primary, I will move to YOUR district so you can vote for one of your concerned neighbors"...
Sorry, I think this is stupid.
Hussein is happy about this...it diverts resources and attention away from him and his sycophants.
Some are. Mentally.
BTW Who is in line to take his spot as Speaker?
“If he is running on a single issue, he is DIW.”
True, but that was just what the author of the article said, probably to make the guy sound like a nut.
hmmmm....Cantor?
“There are a whole lot of issues that Boner could be vulnerable on. It makes no sense to limit oneself to this issue only.”
Nobody runs on one issue only. Look at the source : CBS. CBS wrote that - not the candidate.
We The People spoke loudly on November 02, 2010 and you said you heard us but went deaf within 48 hours.
We the People spoke again this past Tuesday in the special elections held in Nevada and New York.
You've been repeatedly told that we want Obama and this Marxist agenda STOPPED.
Yet, since November you have continually compromised with the agenda that keeps adding links in the long chain of Tyranny! WE WANT IT STOPPED!!
You have now been put on notice Sir.
Boehner certainly needs to be challenged. And his failure to hold Obama’s feet to the fire in either one of the two budget votes—the only votes where the Republicans really had the power to DO something—is the obvious place to attack him.
But I doubt if this unknown 26 year old is the person to do it. Yes, we need someone to do it, but it looks to me as if this guy is just getting in the way.
I do give him credit for speaking out. But I hope a stronger candidate will emerge. Frankly, CBS/AP would not be giving him this free publicity if they didn’t think he was eminently beatable.
There are a myriad of reasons why to replace Boehner. While I think the funding for Planned Parenthood is an excellent issue to oppose him on, you really do need to explain other things that reveal what your total perceptions are concerning governance.
What we may realize this one issue conveys, the general public may not recognize. It’s good to give folks a number of reasons to back you, even if the one good reason is sound.
