NEW YORK (AP) -- Republicans have scored an upset victory in a House race that became a referendum on President Barack Obama's economic policies.
Retired media executive and political novice Bob Turner defeated Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin in a special election Tuesday to succeed Rep. Anthony Weiner, a seven-term Democrat who resigned in June after a sexting scandal.

To think that just last winter Weiner was seen as a legitimate candidate for mayor, he was one of the most vocal and visible Dems in Congress, and he seemed on the path for governor of NY, or perhaps even as a candidate for president within a decade.
Now, his district, which had been held by a Dem for 90 years, goes to the GOP. What a great night!!!!
Don’t get carried away. Government has a role in civilization and it is not always negative. When it is in the hands of intelligent patriots it works to everyone’s advantage. When it is in the hands of ideological zealots without a clue it is a disaster.
This is the same for Europeans, And there are bizaarkars under those seemingly placid skins. And I wouldn’t want to be an Arab when they are pushed too far.

Good point! If a prominent Jewish Democrat like Weprin can lose in a 40% Jewish district to a Christian Republican over 2 issues: Obama's hostility to Israel and (2) the Ground Zero Mosque, there may well be lots of nervous Jewish Democrats waking up their pollsters tonight.

I don't care HOW the legacy media trys to spin this - this is BAD NEWS for the Democratic Party ... of course the pathetic freak messed up the chances of the Dems in this historic Democratic seat, but this HAS to be more than just the freak-o thing that turned this seat around to Republicans .... no, there is also about a 30% layer of NO OBAMA vote in there, not just NO FREAK vote.

Yes, it’s true. I can even name some of them - and the particular state (ahem!) that most of them come from. They also think he is a bad actor (being very educated in the art of acting) and a very bad man (because he married more than once). Sadly, there are some really crazy people here.
I had heard from some friends in the area that Weprin canvassing...phone and in person..was annoying a lot of people...often when Weprin folks would knock on a door for the 3rd or 4th time..they’d be told..”I’m voting for Turner..”
