Among the victims on 9/11 was Barbara Olson, the beautiful and brilliant author and political commentator who perished when American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. Many here will recall that she was an avid Freeper ( her screen handle was "bko" )...and many who are new to FR may not have known it. It was because of FR that I had the very good fortune to get to know Barbara..indeed, the week before she died we'd spoken on the phone, to talk about actually meeting in NYC for the first time later that month. She was an absolute delight, and I thought I'd like to briefly share with all of you a little bit about my experiences with her.
Ahem.....she may 'challenge' in the next few months. Get it up, and get it out!
Seriously, great essay...thanks, amigo.
Thank for sharing this fascinating story that makes me proud to be associated with such fine Freepers as yourself.
Thank-you for sharing that.I hadn’t discovered FR until after 9/11 but loved Barbara Olson when I saw her on TV.I’m sorry you lost your friend and the world lost her.
Thanks Ken for sharing. Even though the progressive revisionists would like us to forget - WE MUST NEVER FORGET!!!
Thanks for bringing back some pleasant, though bittersweet memories!
Thanks for sharing. C.
Thanks for sharing your memories.
The RECOUNT! We had some really good threads. Remember “Chad” the hanging squirrel?
I do! And our weird diets and lack of doing housework for days and days. It was dreadful, up all night watching tv and going to work bleary eyed!
Thanks for the great post, Ken. I miss Barbara as well.
Thanks for the great post, Ken. I miss Barbara as well.
Thanks for the great post, Ken. I miss Barbara as well.
Thanks for all that! I remember your threads very well, we had insights here that no one had and it is all because of your coverage.
I never knew BKO was her until after that day. She is missed by many of us. You my FRiend had the chance to be a part of her life and helped her formulate her speaking on TV.
Thank you!
Thanks for posting it.
Rest in Peace, BKO.
Thank you for the wonderful recollections of Barbara.
Saving for later
I remember. Thank you for sharing, ken. Guennie and 2/3, thank for the ping.

Though unrelated to the topic of the thread, there was a common theme in many of your comments...how much FR has changed since those days...it's a different place now..harsher, less civil..sometimes unpleasant..
The natural eveolution of political discourse in a decade, or have we so allowed our opponents to debase our society? We shall see over then next 15 months...
May she rest in peace.
