Agree. I don't think the tea party movement is centered on Palin, although some individual members of the tea party may be "centered" on her. But other members may be "centered" on someone else.

Exactly — centered on principles, run by We the People. I personally am happy to let Sarah Palin chart her own course. These guys do not speak for me.

My personal tea party is just fine with having Sarah Palin speaking truth.

BTW I support someone other than Palin for president.

...as opposed to using the Tea Party name as a hammer to beat on a candidate you don’t like?

if these Tea Party event organizers didn’t invite her to come speak, she wouldn’t. If they don’t like it, then why do they keep inviting her? Could it be to drive more traffic to these events to sell more T-shirts?

No tea partiers I know or converse with seem to think this way. Some want Sarah for Prez, some don’t. Personally, I think she’s doing what the balless wonders in Congress won’t do............speak the truth.

Principle is important, but so is leadership. It's pretty hard to advance principle in this world without good leadership.

The Tea Party Movement is bigger than any one person, and it’s not about any ONE candidate — and thank goodness we don’t have any ONE single leader. The Movement is about bringing together debate and discussion of solutions from We the People — not the politicos, not those inside the beltway types that are part of that PERMANENT POLITICAL CLASS that have fought the Tea Party Movement. As was said in the introduction, this is about every day, hard-working, individual Americans and empowering the individual.

When people attack Palin personally without focusing on principle, they are doing exactly what you say they shouldn’t do.

Armed Forces Tea Party Calls on Sarah Palin to declare her status as a candidate for President today

Indialantic, FL (MMD Newswire) September 06, 2011 - - There is growing mission creep with candidates and politicians in the Tea party movement and it’s very important for us as a movement to maintain our integrity in vetting candidates. To do this, all persons considering a run for president of the United States and offices below must declare their intentions before becoming closely associated with the Tea Party. The Tea Party is not a movement to sell books or make news for the sake of attention; we have serious issues facing our country. We are asking that all potential candidates must declare before using our movement as a place for stump speeches.

In order for us to ensure we are an issues based movement that can be trusted and respected for our principles over candidates and personal politics we feel it’s vital that Gov. Sarah Palin declare her status as a candidate now. If not we are at risk of having major Tea party speeches and events used as political rallies for a selected candidate vs. a citizen based movement that forces the legislative agenda and serves as a fundamental check to the current corrupt culture in Washington DC.

We can’t have a few selected national candidates at major events that may give the impression they are representative of all in the Tea Party as possible candidates. The Governors values have always aligned well with the larger Tea Party positions of limited and responsible government as many candidates do. She can be an instrumental voice going forward helping guide the discussion should she decide not to run. Until then we must keep the playing field level and ensure all candidates declared and hinting are responsible to us in the Tea Party so we can maintain our independence and validity as the largest national movement of citizen patriots working to make our country better and more constitutionally centered.

Oh, no—if we’re not careful the tea party will end up having influence over an election!

Palin has done far more for the tea party than they’ve done for her.
