Its been three years since former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made her splash onto the national stage as Sen. John McCains running mate in the 2008 presidential election. And since then she has acquired a very loyal following. But is that helping or hurting her?
On Tuesdays The OReilly Factor, conservative columnist and author of Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, Ann Coulter expressed her concern over the Palin phenomenon. She was asked by substitute host Laura Ingraham if Palin can maintain her status as a tea party favorite by stringing people along about her potential 2012 candidacy.
Maybe not, Coulter said. Newt Gingrich carried it on for 15 years and I kind of think that might be what were getting here, largely because of the polls. I mean, you just showed the Fox News poll, Gallup took a poll, I dont know five, six months ago, showing that not quite as high as 74 percent, but 65 percent said they would never definitely, positively, ever vote for Sarah Palin I might add, that oh, its the medias fault and they attacked her and saw her as a threat, all of which I believe is true.
Coulter pointed out that conservatives are reluctant to criticize Palin for fear of a backlash and spoke about her own experiences.
Most Americans dont want Sarah Palin for president, Coulter continued. But shes become sort of the Obama of the tea party. Shes just the one to a certain segment of right-wingers and the tiniest criticism of her, I think many of your viewers may not know this no conservative on TV will criticize Palin because they dont want to deal with the hate mail. You say her voice is a few octaves too high or perhaps Michele Bachmans speaking voice is more modulated and you will be inundated with enraged emails.
But Coulter said that the loyal following Palin has could be a liability in the long run.
No, I agree and I think shes terrific at what she does, but I tend to agree with you, Coulter said. I got sick of it with Newt Gingrich too, fish or cut bait because you are ginning up this group of Americans who will not even consider anyone else. You know, we used to all love Sarah Palin conservatives like me for her enemies. Im starting to dislike her because of her fans
I think shes bright, but her good points do not seem to be in the direction of running for president. I sort of wish just like Newt Gingrich, just run so we can get this over with.
I'm for Palin beccause of what she has done in her life, the values she represents and lives, and the views and plans she is setting forth at a time when we need precisely those views put into action in the White House and in Congress. - Jeff HeadBingo!
Me, too!I think that Ann's problem with Governor Palin is that she represents such a completely different CULTURE.
From opinion.latimes.com:
It's not just an East Coast/Ivy League education thing -- since Ann ADORED President Reagan, in spite of his humble background.
And, it's not that she feels challenged by Governor Palin's physical beauty, since Ann is friends with MANY other beautiful women.I think that the key is that Ann is NOT really a "country girl" at heart -- so she is uncomfortable with the whole NASCAR-watching, moose-killing, raising-a-family-of-five-with-your-highschool-sweetheart, Golly-You-betcha thing.
Governor Palin, however, is.
And, she is TOTALLY at home with the kind of "Tea Party" fans who identify with her -- like Ted Nugent.
I don’t care about Ann’s credibility. I don’t like her, either. She just has a point that many Palin fans are annoying. There are annoying supporters of every candidate. That doesn’t take away from the fact that there are annoying Palin supporters.
What “rock solid conservative” would back both Milt Romney and Chris Christie, as well as “date” Bill Maher, pray tell?
A reading from The Book of Zot
“And lo it did come to pass that on the darkened day when a wise one faltered, that the Viking Kitties did row their longboats ashore.
Verily I say unto you that as forseen in the prophesy, the Kitties did make war on all of Trollkind, smiting two who proved quick of wit, but a bit slowith upon the uptake. And so the Kittith did rock, and so Troll heads did roll as again the skies opened and again the merciful lightning rained down on the malformed, if quite thickened, Troll skulls. Ans lo it did come to pass that again, the fuzzy little Valkries did bear the souls of the newly departed off to that fabled land of fallen Freepers, Trollhenge. There in the Porcelan Caulderon do their digital remains restith to this day; a fell reminder to the brethren of the horros if the fell disease that has claimed so many of their once proud number. Shower their memory with the sacred rememberance brothers and sisters, for the time of Zotnorock is Nigh!

I’m very much in touch with FR, and I am shocked and dismayed anyway. All my non-FR conservative friends are not that crazy about Palin. They are VERY crazy about winning.
I seriously don't get what your point is. You don't make sense. I say that Coulter's point was that Palin's supporters are so annoying that they cause her to have a lower opinion of Palin herself.
You say "IT AIN'T JUST PALIN SUPPORTERS." So what? That in no way takes away from me pointing out what Ann's point was. Why are you making this into an argument? Also, your post 365 makes no sense in the context of the conversation.
Coulter supports Christie and has supported Romney. She is a Palin detractor and NOT unbiased.
Did I ever suggest otherwise? Did you miss my first post on this thread where I said "Not a fan of Ann...?"
Hey, just following Palin’s() marketing program. She wants to trademark the brand, who am I to contradict her?
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. 14 months out had Rudy nearly TRIPLING MCCain. Does anyone with half a brain remember voting for Rudy in the general?
None of us, least of all a pollster, sees the future and that’s just it. Palin, like a thousand pols before her, has 14 months to make her case...while Obama keeps destroying the country. Palin is direct, her opponents are mealymouthed flip floppers and excuse makers. The odds favor the bold in that scenario. That would be Palin, not Mittens, not Perry and the rest aren’t even in contention at this point.
Regardless of what polls say.
“All my non-FR conservative friends are not that crazy about Palin. They are VERY crazy about winning.”
Interesting. My non FR conservative friends are evenly split between Palin and Perry , with a few Bachman’s...
Perhaps you and your friends are not quite as conservative as you think.
I make a distinction between Palin supporters and Palin cultists.
Palin supporters are wonderful.
Palin cultists are dweebs and idiots who need to get a life, and need a good slap.
Well, I respected her very much.. was even able to buy a couple of her books here in Japan (in the fiction section :/ can tell ‘other’ foreigners were placing the books just like back in the states :p )..
I liked her until she went all weird around the time of the last Pres. elections..
“Hey, just following Palins() marketing program. She wants to trademark the brand, who am I to contradict her?”
A troll for starters. I still find it funny that someone wh claims to be in the entertainment industry has to mock a public figure and her family members for protecting their IP. Tell us all again how that works.
70 times in a month with that “TM” thing. Someone sure has Sarah issues... and dogpiling Christian posters when they express their faith...on a site that is for “God and Country”. Got directional issues too. I can help though. Try Dem Underground. They mock Palin, her supporters and Christianity even more than you.
That’s the thing about posting histories. Hard to deny your own words. And you sure do have a lot of them.
Agreed well said.
Palin supporters are wonderful.
Palin cultists are idiots.
YOU MIGHT BE A SARAH PALIN CULTIST IF:
You can’t read the slightest negative comment about your candidate without screaming bloody murder and setting your hair on fire.
(And that fits some Freepers).
No it just makes Ann’s article unimportant and in fact stupid. Does Ann not think she has supporters who are annoying?
People feel the way they feel about her. You can’t change gut feelings. I think she is beautiful. I have seen her in person. Her looks have nothing to do with it. The worst I have said is that her voice annoys me. It does. I can’t help it. If it was just that, I wouldn’t have even brought it up... It’s more. We need to win this election. She cannot win the general election. Moderate Dems who might not come out to vote for Obama, will come out to vote against her. They hate her. My level of annoyance is nothing compared to a large segment of people who have money and can mobilize. We need to win and that is all I care about.
Right now, I do not believe she is going to run. She can do more from the outside.
Seems to me you contradict her all the time. Only when you think it’s funny do you do otherwise.

And, I also invite everyone to check my posting history. I stand behind it all.
As for the Palin Trademark - take it up with her, I'm just playing along with the marketing plan.
