Obama Urges Congress to 'Get on Board' With More Infrastructure Spending
FoxNews ^ | 9/5/11

President Obama called for Congress to "get on board" with more infrastructure spending and a new round of middle-class tax cuts Monday, as he delivered a campaign-style speech that served as a warm-up to a vital jobs address later this week.

Interrupted repeatedly by chants of "four more years," the president marked Labor Day in Detroit at a rally with the nation's top labor leaders. He used the address to underscore his alliance with the labor movement -- at a time when cracks are starting to show -- and preview some of the proposals he'll outline during a speech Thursday before a joint session of Congress.

Obama effectively dared Republicans to oppose what he described as the "new way forward" for America. He said the upcoming session would reveal whether there are "straight-shooters" in Congress and whether Republicans will put "country before party."

"Show us what you got," he said, in a message aimed at GOP lawmakers. "No more manufactured crises, no more games."

The president said he didn't want to spill all the details of his upcoming address, but highlighted a few portions. Foremost, the president called for new investment in roads and bridges.

Interrupted repeatedly by chants of “four more years of hell,” and “please enslave our children” along with “just gas us now”

Basically Obama said, “We’ll give them a plan ... “ and if they don’t go along with the “plan” to put our people back to work, then they care more about party than country.

He plans to call it the “My way or the highway plan”?

What an arrogant POS.

House investigators said they have uncovered evidence that White House officials became personally involved in an Energy Department review of a hot-button $535 million loan guarantee to the now-failed California solar company Solyndra.

The allegation surfaced in a letter House Energy Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) sent to the White House Thursday night, saying he planned to accelerate efforts to understand an investment deal that may have left taxpayers out half a billion dollars.

“We have learned from our investigation that White House officials monitored Solyndra’s application and communicated with [Department of Energy] and Office of Management and Budget officials during the course of their review,” the letter says.

Thursday’s letter, which calls on the White House to turn over correspondence between administration officials, Solyndra and its investors, presents the most pointed suggestion that the White House had direct involvement in the financing.

This is a plan to grease Obama’s Union supporters. Notice how he holds his speech in Detroit a city destroyed partly by Union excess. He knows Congress is not going to fork over another Trillion or so and so do the Unions. Obama motivates his base and the Union leaders look like they are doing something.

I’m sure the WH has a lot of direct involvement in a lot of underhanded things going on. Maybe the Teflon president will soon lose his Teflon coating. One can hope.

What about S.942, The Transportation Infrastructure Grants and Economic Reinvestment Act?

I haven't read it. It doesn't look good from the sponsor list and the short summaries I've read of it.

Of course, it was introduced in May and Harry Reid and his minions haven't done a thing with it. I guess they were too distracted ignoring the debt ceiling issue and ignoring all the other appropriations bills sent over by the house.

The president said he didn't want to spill all the details of his upcoming address

You gotta have a plan before you can spill any details of it.

Therein lies Obama's conundrum.

First of all... Orange barrels are N Carolinas state flower lol. Secondly, as a truck driver I see “ infrastructure” spending everywhere. If it were truly the job creating utopia as we are told, we would have low unemployment. I wish I had the time to add up all the 11 and 27 mile stretches of “ infrastructure” I have driven through. I would also love to figure out how many fed, state and local dollars are spent per mile and per job.

Great, just what we need from the "Vacation President". More "shovel-ready (wink-wink, nod-nod) jobs".

“No more manufactured crisis” ???

He is the king of ‘manufactured crisis’!

Somebody ought to have the guts to ask him what in the hell he is referring to though. Which crisis currrently in America does he think is ‘manufactured’?

Is he is talking about the debt ceiling crisis? He is the one that told us it was a crisis!

Is he talking about the first stimulus? He is the one that told us it was a crisis.

Is he talking about Healthcare? He is the one that told us it was a crisis.

Is he talking about the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars? He is the one that told us it was a crisis.

Is he talking about the banking crisis? He is the one that told us it was a crisis.

Just which ‘crisis’ is he referring to? Libya,ATMS...WHAT?
