A plurality (47%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that Palin will enter the presidential race, but that includes only 13% who feel its Very Likely. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 35% think a Palin bid is unlikely, but just five percent (5%) say its Not At All Likely. Eighteen percent (18%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Only 18% of voters think it would be good for Republicans if Palin entered the race. Sixty percent (60%) say it would be bad for the party, while 11% predict it would have no impact. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.
Even most Republicans (52%) believe it would be bad for the GOP if Palin threw her hat in the ring, a view shared by 74% of Democrats and 54% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

Too many “scorch the earth” Palinistas here on FR, that’s just what the liberals/marxists/communists want - divide and conquer.
If Palin enters the primaries, Romney will be the GOP nominee.
After all this time, you obviously don't know me very well.
I don't care about the GOP anymore. I was on the verge of leaving it for good when McCain selected Palin as his running mate. I decided to hang around a bit to support her.
In the three years since, all I've seen out of the GOP is the Republican leadership and its operatives plunging their knives into Palin's back, and leaving her all alone to fight against the Rat lib attacks, both in Alaska and after Tucson. I therefore have NO loyalty to the GOP or its other candidates.
If Palin chooses not to run, then I will write in her name on election day and go home and sleep soundly with a clear conscious.
Conservative first, Republican distant second.
bump.
What’s bothersome? A skewed poll over a year before the election? Polls are meant for propaganda purposes. You can pay for one to give any outcome you want.
[Note - please don't take this wrong; I am one of the strongest Palin supporters on FR as you'll find if you check my posting history.] Sarah running could hurt the GOP and is likely to do so. She is likely to hurt Romney and weaken him as a candidate, and Mitt is the GOP establishment choice, since they want a win with an "R" after the name rather than a win that will help to return our government to its appropriate boundaries. If they force Mitt on us without convincing voters that their choice really would be better, having seen what we lost out on will hurt their designated nominee.
The question is: "Do we care if her candidacy hurts the GOP?" I don't. This isn't football, where we'll cheer for anyone who puts on a Redskins jersey, or Cowboys, or whatever team we chose to cheer for. This is about America, and the candidate's values matter more than that "D" or "R" after the name on the ballot. I want a president who will be good for America, and I believe having Sarah run will be good for this country (especially if she wins) even if it's risky for the GOP establishment.

A huge 98% of voters think it would be good for Republicans if Palin entered the race. Two percent (2%) say it would be bad for the party, while 0% predict it would have no impact. One percent (1%) are not sure.
Even Republicans (0%) believe it would be bad for the GOP if Palin threw her hat in the ring, a view not shared by 74% of Democrats but 98% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
There, fixed it.
Exactly. Some FReepers actually want her to run as an Indie. Now, there's a solution. /s
It won't.
When Romney was ahead in the polls, the thinking was that a Palin run would split the anti-Romney vote, thereby allowing a Romney nomination which would alienate the majority of the GOP voters.
In the past two weeks, with the Perry surge and the Romney crash, that particular worry is a moot point. The latest polls show that, if Palin were in the race, she would poll approximately 11% of the GOP primary vote and Perry would still easily defeat Romney.
The danger right now is the attitude of Palin's more rabid supporters that "Either Sarah gets it or Obama can have it" (actually posted by a Palin supporter on Free Republic yesterday).
In a close general election, 10% of the GOP voters with such an attitude could mean the difference between a GOP President and a reelected Marxist.
Making sure that Barack Obama is, really, a one term POTUS, and making sure that leftists, from BOTH major political parties, are taken out of political power, at each and every political level, are the main goals of non-leftists and the GOP. Everything else is, probably, a distraction. No matter who’s the final ‘12 GOP Presidential candidate, defeat Barack Obama and the left, on November 7, 2012!
The election is in November 2012 and NOT November 2011, fourteen months away.
“Palin run would hurt the GOP”
Good.
“No Palin, no peace.
The GOP can go to hell.”
So.. just to be clear.. if Palin isn’t the nominee, you’re OK with Obama getting a second term?
Well, you certainly posted it the way the Palinstinians see the world...
I thought that Michelle Bachmann was the Romney stalking horse?
I think I’m in love with you.
That would certainly make Baraq a lock for re-election. She'd play the role of Perot in 92. And I think she'd get a similar vote to what HRP did - 19%
I got news for you: the GOP has been torn apart for awhile now, and it wasn't Palin who did it.
And another bit of news that might surprise you: Probabilities are that a lot of Palin supporters -- me, for example -- are not robots who will automatically do whatever Palin commands, or agree with whatever Palin said.
As for "the goal" being to "beat the marxiist Obama," remember that at about this time in 2007, the "goal" was to beat Hillary, and polls said Republicans thought Giuliani was the guy to do it.
Here's the deal, sparky: the GOAL is to defeat statism and promote limited government.
Sarah has said she would announce her decision by the end of the month. I hardly think 28 days is going to ruin her in the money-raising department. Take a chill pill!
P.S. I have my contribution sitting in a bank account waiting for the word from her. Do you?
It is not in her best interest to run but polls show she will have little impact on the primary results. Of course, that could change but for Palin there is little encouragement that her numbers can rise much because she is already well known.
