White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the timing of President Barack Obama’s planned speech on his jobs-building and deficit-cutting agenda on Sept. 7 – the same time as a GOP presidential debate — was “coincidental.”

Move over, Nixon and Clinton.

You now have serious competition for the title of “Most Brazen Lie to Ever Come Out of the Oval Office”

NBC will do the usual crap of asking about the homo agenda and then saying that these are people etc.

I can’t believe that after the 2000 election that the GOP thinks they will get a fair shake.
The 2008 election should have been the final wake up call and how they never vetted and still do not vet their messiah, hell they can’t even mention about obama’s illegal uncle who had a valid SS and was done for DUI.

I just hope that the next republican president will have the balls to investigate how this white house worked with the crap called the media.

He has "requested" to address a joint session of Congress. Does the Congress have to comply? What if the House decides they have other business to attend to? This is an honest question, not trying to be a smart-ass.... (....I don't haver to try - it comes naturally.)

Not a smart-ass question at all. Whenever anyone speaks to a joint session of Congress, they speak at Congress's invitation. That's why, everytime there is a State of the Union, the proctor (or whatever he's called) announces the arrival of the president to the Speaker...and then the Speaker introduces the president, or whoever the guest is.

So to answer your question, no the Congress doesn't have to comply. No, the Speaker doesn't have to accept the request. Plus, it's not as if the Speaker extended the invitation, and then recalled it. Now, to your unasked question, do I think Boner would refuse the request? Not a chance in hell...though I'd love to be proved wrong.

And btw...if as Opie Carneyham Eric Stoltz said today, the timing was coincidental, then I am a flaming, toetag, free-to-be-you-and-me-hug-a-tree Marxist.

Obama is an announced candidate, no? So FEC rules should apply. His interference in the primary process of another party should be actionable, shouldn’t it?

Yeah, if The One had not been on vacation so much lately he’d have known that the Republicans were having a debate! Not a coincidence!! Just how dumb does he think we all are?
