Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.
The person cited continual lying from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell of Delaware would also speak.
Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palins speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nations first nominating contest next year.
The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.
Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. Its also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.
The former governors team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. ODonnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. ODonnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

They didn’t.
So its really come down to that? They are hot?
Well at least you are being honest. Most older men around here are so interested in having a hottie on their screen they will vote for one of these women.
I would not follow either one of them out of a burning building.
“Sarah has been loving all the attention shes been getting, milking it for all its worth. She has strung her devotees along as long as she possibly could, raising their hope.”
Really? And you know this how?
Oh, nonsense, me and Sarah Palin have a lot in common.
Three colleges plus five years equals one journalism degree, for instance.
OH!! I KNOW!!!
It’s Piper. It had to be. That mean little child told him! See, apparently she wanted to go to a slumber party next week but Sarah said no. So she contacted the first PDSer she saw on the net and gave him the goods on her horrid, attention hound manipulating mother. And then Bristol dropped a house on her for good measure. And todd threw water on her! And they would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for those meddlesome kids and their dog!!!
No, not really. I made that up. But what the heck. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than the typical ‘logic’ and excuses PDSers come up with when asked that question ;)
College doesn’t give one common sense - you are as far away from SARAH as barry is, turkey.
Well not exactly. The base showed up to vote (such as it did) because there was a CONSERVATIVE on the ticket - not because Sarah Palin specifically was on it. Now that we have several conservatives in the race, there's really no reason to think that the tepid fervor of 2008 is going to morph in raging flames of political lust for Sarah Palin, beyond her contingent on FR, at least.
I would challenge the premise that we "know little" about Perry. In fact, there seems to be quite a lot of information out there about him, and he has had a more successful tenure in office than Sarah Palin had. To the extent that there is ignorance about Perry out there, it seems to be coming from his opponents on FR who repeat lies and half-truths that those who actually know about him have shown to be false or exaggerated.
So you're saying I shouldn't hold out for Jim DeMint?
Oh, no, I totally agree—I didn’t go to school for the classes, I went so I could pick the brains of the professors and write for the local daily. Smaller pond, easier to fish, et cetera. College doesn’t mean jack if you don’t have internships and a couple of side jobs to go with it.
As for Palin?
She hasn’t declared, and says constantly she’s a private citizen “on vacation,” just driving a bus with her name on the side of it (and who here hasn’t done THAT? I know I’ve got the money lying around) around to key campaign stops that GOP candidates who are *actually* running for president happen to be at.
Meaning she ought to get the same amount of media coverage as Don and Bev Knutson in their Airstream caravan. But I’m not an assignment editor, so I don’t get to make those calls. Palin == eyeballs == ad revenue. Why ad revenue drives news reporting, I’ll never know, but here we are. Lord knows I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I thought for a second I was responsible for ruining Piper’s vacation.
My view on Sarah Palin: If I wanted to get jerked around, I could do it myself with a lot less fuss.
That depends; is he a “nice girl” politically, or is he just a political queer in drag?
I ignored your post - turkey. No one cares what you liberals think and your obsession with SARAH - as you show up on Sarah threads with your liberal rant.
He IS the “hot girl.” He makes Palin look plain and dowdy.
Ok, but is in also in the bar? Worse than fighting over one “hot” girl at the bar is fighting over a “hot” girl who isn’t even there!
Hey John,
Every time we go out drinking and hittin’ on women, you always say this and we’re suck of either going home with Miss 2nd Place just so everyone gets a participation trophy or holding our noses and ending up with the worst of the lot. For once John, we are NOT gonna hold our noses. We;re going for the brass ring because after tonight we may never get the chance to play this game ‘ever’ again.
So you go chase the rest with that ‘Brilliant Mind’ of yours Johnny. The rest of is have a rendezvous with destiny ;)
Yeah, right. You’ll not grab the brass ring no matter how hard you try for it. Palin is neither the purist conservative you would like to make her out to be (go look at some of the legislation she signed onto in Alaska - price controls, crony capitalism, and affirmative action, some of it all rolled into one law) nor the electable candidate you like to imagine she is. In other words, Palin is a RINO that even the usual RINO voters would not support.
Bachmann has as much executive experience as Obama had in 2008, and we can see where that got us to. The rest of the field aren’t even worth discussing as their current polling numbers speak to their electability.
Obama is counting on folks just like you.
Let's hope not. Everyone is just plain getting tired of it at this point.
Brilliant strategy of Gov Palin is wearing the lame stream media out already, LOL
That is some mug shot; the MSM must be saving it because I haven’t seen it widely published.
