Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.
The person cited continual lying from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell of Delaware would also speak.
Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palins speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nations first nominating contest next year.
The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.
Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. Its also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.
The former governors team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. ODonnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. ODonnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

My theory is that she was thinking of running, but when Perry threw his hat into the ring she decided to opt out.
It’s almost as if she has less an interest in running for president and more of an interest in keeping her name in the news.
Nah, that’s silly.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I wonder what’s up? I have to admit that I’m feeling a little “whipsawed” reading the stories about Palin and O’Donnell.
Just dang.
Somebody who’s been lied about on a regular basis for the last three years really, really doesn’t like liars. There’s a shocker.
Yeah, really brilliant. People like me, who were planning to travel to Iowa to see her on the 3rd, are just thrilled.
Been saying the same thing for the past year or more.
I had 2 “tickets” for this and was planning to attend. I ma going to wad them up and use them both to light my grill this weekend to do do Hamburgers. Typical IOWA Cluster****! This State is SO ****ING STUPID alot of the time!
It is sad, but it’s a simple case of misplaced faith.
I agree. I think she’ll back Perry and start the speculation as to whether she’s going to be his running mate.
I guess it all depends on who the highest bidder is.
Maybe Dancing with the Stars or Kate plus 8 made her a better offer.
Sort of like O'Donnell.
That would be huge.
Apostate!
She will support Perry...VP Palin...
*..ouch..*
well, at least this keeps here in the news!
Sounds like she is in Iowa on Friday, and NH on Saturday.
At this stage of the game, there are only two logical possibilities as to why such a schedule would be kept. One, presidential campaign. Or two, egomania/limelight hog.
I have no earthly idea which is true. But logically, those are the only two possibilities......
Your commitment (like many others who planned to go there) being cast aside is my biggest concern. I hope that she is on the phone right now securing a different venue in that town.
Otherwise this is a complete debacle.
