Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.
The person cited continual lying from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell of Delaware would also speak.
Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palins speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nations first nominating contest next year.
The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.
Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. Its also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.
The former governors team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. ODonnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. ODonnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

Thanks!
Catfight.
Sarah Palin = this season’s Fred Thompson.
Who knows at this point.
She has wasted political capital with hesitation.
I know her zealots here will claim it's great but it's not coming across good to non zealots...who matter more...and I have plenty in my extended family
They like her and her speeches but they think she is off track in this race.
I'm don't give me 79, I was there...I campaigned after the debacle of Carter...no one ever doubted Reagan was running and his folks never left the field from 1976 on
She should not wait much longer unless she is thinking about letting Perry stumble first...that could be the ONLY reason
Why run when she can jet around the country and make millions?
I think she can have more of an impact as a celebrity anyway.
—2)The conclusions you draw regards how the American people seem to think and vote are drawn from, where again?—
People. I talk to them. Lots of them. The number of republicans I’ve talked to that think she is an idiot is shocking. Yes, they are ignorant, but all I can do is try to inform them otherwise. And often it’s like trying to convince a “Ford” man that Toyotas are actually pretty good cars and, no matter what you say, he just says “their accelerator sticks. They’re not safe!”.
Now, I may think the guy is a boob, but that does not affect how the guy votes.
Oh, and I learned in 2008 not to ignore the polls. That is more empirical than my anecdotal evidence.
Don’t get me wrong. I think she could be our next president. If she is, I’ll believe it was an act of God. And I DO believe in such things. I’ve experienced three real miracles in my life so far.
September begins tomorrow and has 30 days.
The real question is what the heck is going on with Sarah? On hold? What does that mean?
Probable ambush ahead....she won’t be set up.
As far as I know shes not dangled one hint about announcing when she will run or if she will run.
<><><><<
Really? You are that far removed from the candidate’s words?
“Legally, of course, there are time frames. That time is coming rapidly in front of all of us,” Palin told Fox host Sean Hannity, who asked when she would announce her decision. “August and September you do have to start laying out a plan if you are to be one to throw your hat in the ring. So that’s basically the time frame.”
You swore she would run in the past...why the change?
my wife thinks she’s angling for next Arizona senate seat...a job for life
—3)It seems how the Americvan people thought and voted in the last election was, shall we say, totally unexpected?—
No it wasn’t. The polls predicted it. I just thought the polls HAD to be wrong. They were not. I was wrong and learned from it.
Well you know, Christine was a Tea Party selected candidate.
Other than being a nut, why should she not be allowed to speak? LOL
Amen to that. Critical thinking and forbearance are supposed to be Conservative traits.
—1)So, how would you vote?—
I mentioned in another post that I would vote for Palin.
If I could wave a wand and determine, on my own, who this country’s next president is, it would be Palin.
Dude, the article was retracted and you still rant as if it’s true...
Zealous much?
LOL. You may be right, though I don’t think she would win a Senate seat in AZ.
She would be better off running for Senate in AK.
With regard to Palin, why don't we just wait to hear the official word on what is going on from the Palin camp instead of going off half-cocked on every media rumor (which has already had to get corrected at least once this morning).
For those who want true change in Washington next year, remember that the media is not on our side. If we are going to take back our country, we are going to have to do it on our own and as Margaret Thatcher used to day, now is not the time to go wobbly.
You know what Ford stands for, right?
Fix It Again Tony!
