Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.
The person cited continual lying from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell of Delaware would also speak.
Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palins speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.
Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nations first nominating contest next year.
The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.
Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. Its also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.
The former governors team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. ODonnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. ODonnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

Not true.
S. walshe tweets it’s on again.
Let us wait and hear from Sarah Palin...otherwise, this is nothing but rumors, rumors and more rumors...
Well....she promoted O’Donnell but I thought it was more payback for that Tea party group supporting Miller in Alaska. Remember neither Palin or DeMint backed her until the last moment.
As an aside I backed O’Donnell too but only to take out Castle. Never liked that woman and didn’t care that she lost. I was actually relieved she lost.
But yeah...you can’t back someone and then cancel an appearance or ‘put on hold” that appearance because they’ve also been invited to speak. If as her fans believe she intended to make some presidential intentions known at this event then she should have had every detail tightly managed weeks ago. This would come off as an amatuerish entrance if she did so now. Not that I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want Christine O’Donnell linked with an announcement but...if that was a concern she should have have planned an announcement at an event of her own...if she even planned to make one.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
(You get the idea)
People who know they can’t win run for president all the time. Perot didn’t run to win. If Sarah runs, It will almost certainly not be to win. It will be to create a specific impact on the race and outcome.
Don’t get me wrong. If she runs, I’d want her to win the primary, and I’d vote for her as president. But It would take an act of God for that to happen. And what I actually mean by that is that is Sarah Palin becomes our next president, it will indeed be an act of God.
And I believe it could happen.
But barring that, I strongly expect Perry to be the next president. I’m basing this on how the American people seem to think and vote. Not how I would vote.
It is probably “on hold” until O’Donnell is uninvited. LOL
Her movements back in April suggested to me she was only testing the water to see if she had a viable bid, which I didn’t think her support was that strong outside her closed circle of supporters.
I got beaten up, textwise, by her supporters.
I still think she belongs in the Senate.
WSJ UPDATED THE ARTICLE:
“Correction: Sarah Palin put her appearance at a Tea
Party of America rally in Indianola, Iowa, on hold but did not cancel
it, as incorrectly reported in an earlier version of this post”
Agreed. I don’t think she will run as President,because her name has so many bad vibes now. Not her fault, but the media is running after her all the time. Maybe she is playing the decoy and keeping the MSM off the back of the person she considers to be the true candidate.
Don't just yet. She may change her mind in an hour or so.
I LOL’ed at Linus in the pumpkin patch. Perfect!
What does “on hold” mean?”
1. Waiting for more information before deciding?
2. Unable to decide?
3. Has already decided but delaying the announcement?
4. Jerking someone’s chain?
I don’t think she’s running, but she told David Brody she’d announce her decision by the end of September or October.
It’s more subtle than that. Bottom line is that most of the people I know, in all walks of life, that don’t support Palin, think she is an idiot. I don’t. In fact, quite the contrary. But showing up with O’donell only confirms their beliefs. The reason is that the only thing that these people remember about O’donell is “ex-witch”.
It should not be that way, but it is.
Just remember nobody’s perfect..or so we are told by the Perry supporters.
Bingo...COD is a nut and I don’t blame Palin for wanting to stay as far away from her as possible. I was also a supporter of COD (at first) but she has jumped the shark on more than one occasion now.
See post 8. My wife and I get mailings from this group asking for money. They portray themselves as some kind of over arching Tea Party that speaks for everyone. True Tea Partiers will not send their hard earned money to some second or third party. We will send our money directly to the candidates who we think best represent our interests.
We trusted the GOP to sort out Pubbie candidates. All it got us was a demrat-coopted RINO organization. Why on earth would we repeat that mistake?
Don’t know if Sarah will run or not. But thast has nothing to do with her canceling the so-called Tea Party of
America appearance. I think it has everything to do with her realizing this group is much less than it claims to be.
Some folks on FR have fantastic fantization skills. You’ve made no secret your in that category. You all can keep right on pretending you have some clairvoiant sense about what the Governor is thinking. But she will do what she wants when she wants to. Frankly, I find that refreshing.
As far as I know she’s not dangled one hint about announcing when she will run or if she will run. All the conjecture that she would announce during IOWA caucus, at this Tea Party of America event or on Sept 3rd is just that conjecture. Nothing more.
>> There is absolutely no consistency.
Duh! An internet forum is pretty much a mob. You set yourself up for disappointment if you expect consistency.
On the other hand, inconsistency (a.k.a. “hypocrisy” during flame wars) is a great source of material for posts. :-)

Wow. Talk about a whipsaw.
Don't feel jilted. I love Sarah too. Thought and still think she has great conservative ideas. Used to think she was great POTUS material. As much as I love her, this kind of behavior, IMHO, has taken her out of the line of elegibility. I'm sure there's many here who disagree, and some will flame me for this statement, but that's why I love FR. You can give an opinion and see the differences. If someone can tell me differently, then I'm all ears. But honestly, I am disappointed with the way she has done things over the last year and a half.
I still think she has great conservative ideals and the right ideas to bring our country back. I just don't see the independent votes going her way.
