A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.
Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBCs chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would love to see us as second-class citizens and some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree.
Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to the effort that were seeing of Jim Crow.
The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the internet Tuesday, and Carsons office stood by the remarks. Jason Tomcsi, Carsons spokesman, said the comment was in response to frustration voiced by many in Miami and in his home district in Indianapolis regarding Congress inability to bolster the economy. Tomcsi, in an email, wrote that the congressman used strong language because the Tea Party agenda jeopardizes our most vulnerable and leaves them without the ability to improve their economic standing.
The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities, Tomcsi wrote. We are talking about child nutrition, job creation, job training, housing assistance, and Head Start, and that is just the beginning. A child without basic nutrition, secure housing, and quality education has no real chance at a meaningful and productive life.
Carson is hardly the first lawmaker to use heated rhetoric. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) yelled you lie as President Barack Obama was addressing Congress. Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) yelled baby killer at former Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) as abortion was being discussed during the health care debate.
Carson, who represents Indianapolis, is the second Muslim to ever serve in Congress. He has been in office since 2008, and took the seat that was held by his late grandmother Rep. Julia Carson (D-Ind.).
THe racist should be kicked out of Congress!
If they can censure Joe Wilson for telling Obama, "You lie," (and we know now he was lying), they can censure Andre Carson for this insanity.
Just wanted to let you know that I “borrowed” your well written comment to include in a letter to my rep.
“Carson, who represents Indianapolis, is the second Muslim to ever serve in Congress. He has been in office since 2008, and took the seat that was held by his late grandmother Rep. Julia Carson (D-Ind.).”
I think they are choosing their spokespeople very carefully. Congress members wouldn’t dare condemn a black Muslim would they? They need a lesbian black Muslim for triple protection next.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. “
As did I (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2771361/posts?page=58#58) and you’re right.
If Joe Wilson can get censured for telling the truth, then they can sure as hell censure this asswipe for his lies.
For myself, I proudly admit that dumping tens of thousands of overemployed affirmative action hires from the Federal payroll is part of my motivation. They can call it racism if they like. It's still going to happen..."whether they like it or not", as the Left so often puts it. :)
OMG! What they won’t stoop to.
living productive lives, producing stable families with fathers in the home helping to raise the next productive, well educated generation”
A B S O L U T E L Y!!!!
It's MY philosophy that the MORE people there are working and PAYING TAXES, the better for me and everyone else. (Right now, with fewer and fewer people actually paying their own way, it is tough on the ones who DO!)
RIGHT, so.... everybody pony up!!!! I don't care what color you are or where you are from.... get your a*& on the books and pay your OWN WAY!!!! BTW-If you are paying your OWN way you are also automatically supporting at least one 'other; who needs assistance and who can't take care of him/herself.
This is all very odd. I thought we were going to be post-racial with a half-white guy in the White House.
Or, is that "Snark"?
West is a member of the CBC. Haven’t heard much about his thoughts on these pronouncements from his fellow members. If you have, I would greatly appreciate any links.
TIA
He is truly the plantation owner.
They need a lesbian black Muslim of Jewish decent in a wheelchair.
Leftists always “snipe from cover”, they always have and always will hide behind the skirts of those that decent people “dare not attack” (or even answer).
It is an unfortunate truth that Blacks, proven by their speechs and actions, are the most racist group in the USA.
Which is excused and encouraged by Liberals, the 2nd most racist group in the USA.

This person is guilty of hate speech.
Hate speech such as this has no place in our Society.
But unfortunately hate speech is common in the Democratic Party and its affiliates.
Aside from possibly some of the freshmen, the Congressional GOP hates the TEA party as much as the CBC....same in the Senate.
Do not forget that the movement got its legs because the GOP wasn't listening to us in the first place.
Rep. Allen West, the no-nonsense GOP congressman from Florida, said hes considering dropping out of the Congressional Black Caucus after hearing audio of vitriolic, anti-Tea Party language exposed in a Blaze video Wednesday.
Appearing on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, West said that he thinks the caucus is not in tune to the true problems of the black community and is also concerned about the rhetoric its members are engaging in.
I think that what you see is a desire to not recognize some of the serious problems that are in the black community, West said. He later continued, And to try to all the sudden have a scapegoat called the Tea Party is what you saw after the S&P downgrade thats just a distraction.
He went on to praise the Tea Party for standing for basic constitutional principles.
But what had West admitting hes reconsidering his membership in the Congressional Black Caucus? It was comments from Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) that were first brought to national attention by The Blaze. On Wednesday, we published a video of Carson making some incredible statements about the Tea Party and lynching, including some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree:

Thank you. Will wait to see what he does.
