Rep. Allen West, the no-nonsense GOP congressman from Florida, said hes considering dropping out of the Congressional Black Caucus after hearing audio of vitriolic, anti-Tea Party language exposed in a Blaze video Wednesday.
Appearing on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, West said that he thinks the caucus is not in tune to the true problems of the black community and is also concerned about the rhetoric its members are engaging in.
I think that what you see is a desire to not recognize some of the serious problems that are in the black community, West said. He later continued, And to try to all the sudden have a scapegoat called the Tea Party is what you saw after the S&P downgrade thats just a distraction.
He went on to praise the Tea Party for standing for basic constitutional principles.
But what had West admitting hes reconsidering his membership in the Congressional Black Caucus? It was comments from Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) that were first brought to national attention by The Blaze. On Wednesday, we published a video of Carson making some incredible statements about the Tea Party and lynching, including some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree:
