China-printed Quran has spelling mistakes: Iran

Iran, which gave contracts to publishers in China to print copies of the Quran, has said the books are full of spelling mistakes, the Mehr news agency reported.

Several Iranian publishers had asked for copies of the Quran to be published in China. However, the copies came back littered with spelling mistakes, said Ahmad Haji-Sharif, director of the department of evaluation on publication of the Holy Quran.

The copies were cheaply made in China but are being sold in Iran for much more than they are really worth, he said.

He said that if a customer finds out that the actual value of a Chinese copy is less, but it is full of mistakes, he would certainly prefer to purchase an Iranian product with better quality and bearing no mistakes.

Iran has high quality printing presses and publishing firms, with around 1,000 of them publishing the Quran, he said. "So why should we send our publications outside Iran?" he asked.

Hmm. Probably says something like, “Ollah is the Lrod and Mud-Ham-Head is his Poopit.”

Not seeing any mistakes here.

“The copies were cheaply made in China but are being sold in Iran for much more than they are really worth...”

Sorta like The Sinners’ Bible, eh?

Well, what are you waiting for? Declare a jihad against the bastards?

(In the meantime, we'll get the popcorn.)

Cheers!

Chinglish is hard enough. Charabic must be murder. There must be some excellent public domain texts out on the web somewhere. There is no more excuse for Charabic in a Koran than to have Chinglish in a bible.

It started out by saying “Once upon a time...” and ended with “The End”.

This is actually a really serious offense since the Quran (despite historical evidence to the contrary) is deemed by most Muslims to be perfect and unchanged from Day 1. For people who think that on-line grammar nazis are bad, the Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy in Egypt last year proposed a 15 year sentence for anyone who prints a Quran with errors:

You mean, “Maohammed” ?

Its funny how nearly anything China makes is crap. I guess we are all Even Stevens, though, as they get our crappy, debased dollar, in return.

So they’ve never seen a foreign language Chinese instruction manual in Iran before they placed that printing order it seems.

there’s the joke that the Chinese nukes the Pakistanis “tested” in 1998 came with instructions in Chinese — which is why most failed to fire :-P
