All outside stuff secured or put in the garage.
Plenty of batteries and diesel. Cars gassed up.
Gutters cleaned. Ice stockpiled. Flashlights and candles all around. 55 gallon barrel full of water for the toilets.
2 months SHTF food already ratholed. 75 bottles of wine in the cellar. A weeks worth of cigars on site.
Am I missing anything?
Stay safe all.
Right on the Arthur Kill separating NJ from Staten Island....Right in the path.
The Southern NJ barrier Islands will be devastated if this storm tracks as predicted.
I’m in Maryland and my husband has done most of it (Bless his heart). He fired up the generator to make sure that was working and purchased a new chain for his chain saw. I have plenty of food and extra water. Flashlights have brand new batteries, a few battery powered candles as well. Just for my own SANITY, I purchased a few items to keep the younger kids occupied in case the power goes out. For example, the girls have two little bird houses they can paint and a few other craft type items. (I fully understand that crafts aren’t for survival... Just Mom’s state of mind). Please keep safe FReepers... prayers for those near the shores. God bless!
Camp Lejeune, NC here. Have batteries, flashlights, candles. Plenty of water and food. It has been raining for hours, and the wind is starting to pick up. We have everything packed in case, but hopefully we won’t need it. We live off base, but not far, so we shall see. There is a curfew in effect starting at midnight for Onslow County. I will try to keep posting updates as long as the wifi holds out. So far no loss of power or cable.
Hi from Litchfield Cty - in NW CT - supposedly to be under the eye of the storm...we shall see. I bought a case of bottled water today and a couple of big candles - all the stores were out of C and D batteries. Planning to spend the night at the hospital where I work on Saturday night if things get really bad...
Located in South Jersey.
Prep to date. Moved patio furniture to barn.
Planned prep. Run around in circles and scream like a girl if the news shows don’t stop warning me I may die.
Southern New England here. Went to the grocery store today,it was mobbed.
Bought raw fruit, raw veggies, crackers to go with peanut butter on hand, junk food goodies, water, cat food and litter. Was hard to find batteries, but got some at an auto supply store for battery operated lantern and lighters for candles. Also some beer and wine at the package store.
Had other stuff like canned tuna, sardines, smoked oysters, peanuts, almonds, raisins, canned goods, cereal bars, bread already.
God bless us all and keep us safe.
coastal NC counties under tornado watch now
I’m in Essex County, NJ — about 12 miles from NYC, the way the birds fly.
Have just about all the things that have been mentioned, plus extra kerosene for our lamps. We have 5 of them. Also, even tho we have a generator, I don’t like using it for long as it is so noisy. I’m making ice packs to put in the refrig so that we don’t have to have the generator on for long periods.
Also I have 2 extra recharged batteries for my B’ Berry. If the computer is down, I’ll still be able to get here. Also have battery operated radios and a short wave.
There is a white oak above the house but it is not as tall as the other trees in the area. Hope it wants to live.
Don’t forget pet food and litter!
We are going to put coolers of water in the bathtubs so as to have flushing water handy. Hopefully the plumbing will be OK.
We are going to lower the pool water about a foot, so as not to have to lower it if it overfills from the 4 to 8 inches of rain expected. We are in a wooded area and there is no way I’ll let DH go out to lower it.
Because of all the “what if” threads on preparation, we have plenty of food and batteries. No guns, tho as in NJ it is difficult to get them. But I do have NRA stickers on many windows and doors.LOLOL!
In a few days, the “Sou-Easter” will hit us here in Rhode Island.
I sent my wife out for provisions — she bought us ice cream.
We got a shower this afternoon but get worse thunderstorms. We were actually hoping for more rain to finish putting out the Honey Prairie fire burning in the Okefenokee swamp.
It looks like we got away from Long Island and the Jersey shore just in time.

Removed from the yard anything that might become airborne in high winds, tested generator, filled, gas cans for it, as well as the truck, got propane for the grill to cook, bought an all metal pan to boil water on the grill for coffee, picked up ice for the fridge to help keep things cold in between generator plug ins, and got non parishables we may need as well as water from the store. Also got some fried chicken and made potato salad so I won’t need to cook for a couple days, we can eat that cold.
I'm in Richmond, VA
Tomorrow morn I will spread grass seed, move some outdoor furnishings inside, take down my four flags (USA, France, Ireland, Vatican). Some of the smaller flower pots will be moved indoors. My statues, Jeanne d'Arc, Mary, Queen of Heaven, and Angels should be fine as these are protected.
I will then go to the gym for a morning workout, back home for a shower, and then go online at RickPerry.org to get all the exciting news and updates about our next president, the current governor of Texas, Rick Perry.
Just north of NYC. I’ve got my generator, a pantry full of food (with a hat tip to Kartographer), a full wine rack, fuel, portable radio, water, flashlights, candles....
Yeah, I’m ready.
In Union County, New Jersey (Scotch Plains area). Have 7 gallons of gas in gas tanks, canned goods, generator, first aid kits, ice, .357 S&W and ammo. Am I missing something?
