Right on the Arthur Kill separating NJ from Staten Island....Right in the path.
Had the marina on the Chesapeake pull the boat out today and put her on jackstands. Also had the canvas taken down so she would not become a kite. We gave the ok for a neighbor horse owner to bring 2 ponies to our barn for shelter. All outside furniture put away. Flags will be taken down when wind kicks up. My fingers are crossed.
We are too, we are just a few blocks off the Raritan Bay on the “wet side” of Rte 36.
We are leaving in the AM with our cat (sheesh!) and heading out to Lancaster PA where hopefully our reserved, pet friendly room will be waiting for us.
Secured everything outside today.
I think the biggest danger is flooding, more than winds.
I’m actually very anxiety ridden about the whole thing, I really hope my house does not get destroyed.
I’ve put all the sentimental stuff that I can fit up on the closet shelves.
We’re under mandatory evacuation, so we really didn’t have a choice in the end, luckily we didn’t wait until it got to that point.
The weather people might be hyping things, but they’ve closed the Atlantic City Casinos and they are going to shut down the NYC subways and I don’t think anybody is doing that stuff for hype.
As I said to hubby I hope we come back and say “we could have stayed” not “I’m glad we left”, but either beats saying “we should have left”.
Just praying and worrying, that’s all that’s left to do.
