Clock ticking on Sarah Palin entry into 2012 presidential race
Politico ^ | 08/25/2011 | Molly Ball

Even for Sarah Palin, there are deadlines.

The former Alaska governor seems to believe that most of the rules of politics don’t apply to her – that with her media appeal and her grassroots following, she could waltz into the presidential campaign at the 11th hour and make a go of it.

But if she does want to run for president, she’ll have to get on the ballot. Palin has gestured vaguely at various self-imposed deadlines — the latest being late September — but there are some drop-dead dates that she cannot escape, starting with Oct. 31.

That’s the day presidential candidates’ names have to be submitted for inclusion on the primary ballot in Florida. By the next day, candidates have to file for the South Carolina primary ballot – along with a $25,000 fee. And the deadlines for other states come fast and furious after that. It’s $1,000 by Nov. 18 in New Hampshire. On Dec. 5, thousands of signed petitions are due in Illinois.

“It isn’t inconceivable that somebody could get into the race as late as the first or second week in October and manage to get it all done,” provided they knew what they were doing, said Matt Seyfang, a Democratic lawyer who’s handled ballot-access and delegate issues for five presidential campaigns, including Bill Clinton’s 1992 effort — which didn’t get started until October 1991. But any later than that, he said, would probably be impossible.

I JUMPED NOTHING! I never said I don’t go on a Perry thread. You, however, said you don’t go on Sarah threads. Keep it honest!! Why do you need the constant reminder??

RINOs and libs are saying she is going to announce Set 3rd—trying to set up her supporters for a letdown if she doesn't.

If I were her,I would avoid announcing any day even close to the big socialist holiday aka Labor Day.
Now Sept 16,”Constitution Day” and Sarah is all about the constitution—especially the 10th Amendment (though she wouldn't be so stupid as to say she was just FINE about a state passing a homosexual marriage law).
Launch on Constitution Day would be my advice—of course if she does she has already thought of it so my advice is moot.
Sarah's “It's The Constitution Mr Obama!” campaign starting on Monday the 16th and swamping the media thru constitution week will have all the others biting at her ankles and using Lib lies (like some are doing here now)to slow her.

I honestly think she's weighing her options, still. Why should she be guided by the media punks' idea of a timetable? There are timetables built into the system.

I also think she's letting the screamers, howlers and assorted crazies at MSNBC and Media Matters exhaust themselves snarling and seizing up in fits over the various repubs. Why not let them use up a lot of resources going after Bachman, Perry, etc?

Seriously, look how they wear themselves out! Michelle made a few minor gaffes and they tried to take her down with them.

Now they're dashing themselves against the rocks over Perry.

By the time she does get in, if she does, her primary opponents will be tired, and the LSM will be ragged.

And the public will start to tune the LSM out. They've heard it too many times.

She also keeps Perry "honest"--he has no temptation to move left.

No one but Sarah and her team know for sure. But oh how I would love to see a Palin/Bachman ticket. We’d be picking up pieces of exploded Dem heads everywhere. Well some people would be picking them up I’d just kick them out of the way all the while smiling.

The very idea is repugnant and any candidate who would do this cares far more about their ego than their country.

I can’t speak for JR or really anybody but myself, but there be trolls among us who do more than ordinary disparagement, but engage in vile slander, and these should be the first to go. Disagree with a candidate’s policy, dislike their personality or their voice, wonder openly about their electability, all fair game in civil political discourse. But to insidiously suggest they are systematically and intentionally duping millions of good people, just to make a buck, is defamatory, and in Sarah’s case, against the evidence.

Such unfounded slander has no place in the conservative household, and especially no place on a site that touts itself as the beacon of conservatism on the web. Conservatism IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE THAT HAS COST HER POLITICALLY is grounded first of all in truth, and second of all in respect for the unalienable rights of our brothers and sisters made in the image of God, the foremost of which is the right to life. A close cousin to that right of life is the right protect one’s reputation from the caustic of life-destroying slander, hence the defamation laws. As conservatives, we all have a right to our opinions, but where our right to speak and another’s right to an honest reputation collide, we should observe that boundary and do as the Founders intended, govern ourselves, and our tongues, lest we prove unable to do so, and another come to govern us against our interest and our will.

That’s what Karl Rove said, right before Palin slapped him down with the post on C4P about how nobody who says she is going to announce on a certain date have any idea what they are talking about.

that there is something larger than herself at stake (beating Obama).

Wrong as usual. Beating obama is half the battle, her goal is to RESTORE America - that's what is at stake! So you know what to do with your something larger than herselfcomment.

I can’t even guess whether the announcement will be, “I’m in”, or “I’m out”.....Just my 2c

It's more like your mantra.

The bolded text in my previous post was an inadvertent paste from another poster that got dropped in there by my droid. My apologies for any confusion.

After reading that truly nasty thread yesterday, I’ve come to the conclusion that a Perry supporter is not welcome on ANY Palin thread, even if they like her as well.

Unless you believe she wants a second Obama term.

Well I certainly want a second Obama term!

About 30 years making big rocks into small rocks at Ft. Leavenworth would be about right.

Recently Palin said she would support Romney if he were the Republican nominee, so it doesn't sound like she is thinking 3rd party.

I didn’t say - and neither did Sarah - that she was going to announce SHE WAS running. She may announce she may NOT.

But she has said she will make an important announcement.

Sept. 3.

Why is that so hard for people to understand?

>> I’ve come to the conclusion that a Perry supporter is not welcome on ANY Palin thread, even if they like her as well.

That’s understandable, but be careful not to let the (relatively) few total jerks color your perception of the rest. Many Palin partisans (including, IMHO, JimRob) are not “Perry haters” at all; they just prefer Palin.

I’m in the same boat as you; of all the actual CANDIDATES, I favor Perry. But I really like Sarah Palin as well, and if she does jump in, I’ll reevaluate my position.

Meanwhile, this being an opinion forum, I’ll feel free to offer my opinion on whatever thread suits me — and do my level best to remain respectful. Again, *most* everyone seems to behave more-or-less with respect, bearing in mind that politics IS a “contact sport”. I’m not going to let the jerks that go overboard run me off.

FRegards

Of course she is not foolish at all. She is already on record at the Iowa state fair saying that no matter WHO wins the republican nomination, she will support them — ABO, Anybody But Obama is what she said.

That’s not the words of a person thinking about a 3rd-party run. It might be the words of a person certain that if they get in the race, they will win and won’t have to worry about voting for anybody else.

Of course, a couple of days ago she said “I doubt it”, when asked if she would announce on September 3rd. Doesn’t mean she won’t, but I’m not going to be dissappointed if she doesn’t, nor should anybody else.
