How could he spend the “entire day sequestered” if he emerged “this afternoon”?

He spent one morning off the golf course. It probably nearly killed him.

Translation: After sleeping until almost noon, the President had brunch while being given an update on world and national events that other people have handled for him and then dragged himself off to play golf.

And on his way out the door, he popped in on the TOTUS administrator and asked, “How’s my MAJOR speech on unemployment and the economy coming along?”

I was just about to post that. No one believes this clown was sitting in meetings this morning getting things done. He was sleeping off a hangover or just being lazy watching TV.

You nailed it sans one important detail. ‘After sleeping off his *hangover* until almost noon’, etc. Otherwise, spot on.
