It is a fantastic park....as long as you're uphill from Madame Pele!
Thanks :)
Those poor folks in the east are not used to quakes and this was a 5.9 less than a mile deep. Probably felt stronger.
Also the buildings may not be as quake-proof as those out here.
I live near the prisons. Nothing. The cats disappeared for awhile, but nothing moved, creaked or shook.
And in a shootout, go stand in the front doorway.
I don’t know why that struck me as funny. But seriously, we
should ask Perry into looking at moving the Capitol to say,
Central Kansas and only convening Congress during twister season.
No planes flying in = no lobbyists.
My daughter lives in Merryland. She lost her cell service and still doesn’t have any I think.
Cause as soon as I knew it was an earthquake I called her. I got that rapid busy signal when it’s out. Seconds, just seconds later, I go to Facebook and she’s online asking if anyone else lost cell service.
At the time she didn’t know it was an earthquake.
And that’s how we were able to communicate, via Facebook. Heh.
Felt tremors here in Exeter, New Hampshire... shook for about 35 seconds, must have been a doozy. I guess God is none too happy with Obamessiah and his minions.
God bless you.
And don’t think this Easterner doesn’t have some (minor) concern of the same thing, as it is.
I live in Columbia/Ellicott City, MD - almost all my life. Back c.1990 we had a whole series of shakes BASED RIGHT HERE (a well-known major highway intersection south of Columbia)! They were no worse than ~3.3, mostly 2.5, but they were close to us and they kept happening - the local community college put out “earthquake alerts” on 1 of their channels continuously for weeks at least. That’ll put us on notice that shocks can keep happening.
Also, last year people got a big laugh out of the highly localized quakes south of us in Montgomery Co, MD. My friend down there felt a bit of it, but up here we didn’t. Precursor?
Nobody could ever handle me, put up with me, live with me, or not murder me.
Except you.
We felt it very well here in WV just past the Potomac. Weird.
It's called a Dust Devil, very common here in the Summer.
Any surviving politicians?
I have friends who lost cell service in the Maryland and New Jersey area shortly after the quake.
Felt the whole building shake and sway (NE MD).
Funny how the East Coast people are having puppies over this.
****
Embarrassing, actually!!
It’s okay, the national debt simply shifted a bit
LOL
That said, I wonder what a thousand-year quake is like? Nobody was recording quakes in these parts before the 1600s. There could be big surprises in store. Hopefully we won't find out. At least not before I sell my house in VA. ;-)
