Sen. John McCain was put on the defensive Sunday for comparing some of his GOP colleagues to hobbits during the debt ceiling debate.
The Arizona Republican had taken to the Senate floor in July to admonish conservatives for unrealistic expectations and quoted a Wall Street Journal editorial that compared them to the characters from J.R.R. Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings.
What I was talking about, quoting from a Wall Street Journal editorial, was that there was a segment of the Republicans in the Senate Republican Senators that said we cannot raise the debt limit until we pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, McCain said when asked on CBS Face the Nation about his choice of words. The Senate would not pass would not get 67 votes. ... We could not have passed it. That was unrealistic, hobbits are unrealistic, it was unrealistic to say.

Do you have the slightest grasp of politics Mr McCain (purely rhetorical question). You can’t see the advantage of forcing every democrat in the Senate to vote against the very popular balanced budget amendment?
McQueeg ,Then explain the “R” on your title?? Oh wait it is RINO Right?? “R”otten old dude, just declare yourself a Rat and be done with it!
Hobbits can be feisty.
There is something about DC nuance that I just do not understand
What in the name of Mordor does he mean by that? Has he ever read LOTR? Does he understand it?
Oh wait...what am I asking....sigh.
If he was trying to be insulting, he failed. In many ways, the hobbits in the books tower over McStain....
John McCain, about to turn 75 and in what is very likely his final term as Arizona Senator, is becoming more and more irrelevant with every passing day. Who cares what this RINO thinks about the TEA party - or anything else? He may still be a big deal in Washington and get on some TV news shows but to most Americans, he is about as relevant as William E. Miller was in 1967. Meaning, not at all.
If it wan’t for the left media and RINOS, who would pay ANY attention to him?
The RINOIdiot who ran for POTUS only to be upended by an Anointed-Idiot.... =.=
I wonder why the press is putting this negative spotlight on McLame? If they were happy with McLame, they would just let the issue die.
McCain scurried to the right during his re-election campaign last year and suckered a bunch of fools in Arizona. He’s simply being McCain, as I knew he would be once he got re-elected.
Since I’ve been referring to the Volvo-driving, denim-wearing, ‘from away’ fans of “Prairie Home Companion” who clog southern Maine as ‘The Hobbit Infestation’ roughly forever, I wonder if I don’t have prior art on McCain.
What do you think of the possibility that Sarah Palin moved to Arizona in order to "inherit" John McCain's seat should her bid to ascend to the presidency fail?
I gots me a steenkin' hunch.
what the hell is a hobbit?
Has he actually said this? Because I would have imagined that McStain would hang on to his seat until he keels over and goes to that big earmark in the sky.
McCain is a POS coward, unfit to be called a Marine.
It is easier for him to attack the TParty than to defend them against the Biden blood smear of calling us terrorists.
He is a pathetic sorry excuse of a RINO.
But but but but what does his fat little daughter think?
