Isn’t there some legend about the Indian Rocks and no bad storms?
To: nutmeg
I’ve been a little worried about the potential of homes that might have some damage from the quake and now a hurricane.

NHC track map just came out for their 11:00 update...the centerline of their forecast shows a landfall between Morehead City and Ocracoke... That's almost exactly where Isabel made landfall in 2003. Fortunately, it had weakened to a CAT 1/2 storm by that point, after peaking (3 times) as a CAT 5.

Don’t know about the legend of Indian Rocks. We have a lot of Indian burial grounds around here. Locals say it helps.

Hubby is buying a generator today and getting several cans of fuel. It won’t take much to move the garden furniture. My rose garden, unfortunately, is on it’s own.

The storm forecast track, if it holds, is an absolute nightmare scenario for the Jersey Shore - running the entire length of the coast. And most of the state will encounter gusts over hurricane force, which means massive power outages and roads blocked by downed trees.
I work in PA very close to Trenton, and I am planning to not be able to work on Monday due to power outages - we have a generator for our servers but not for our desktops.

Isn’t the east side of the storm the ‘windy’ side? If so, wouldn’t a track just inland up the coast present the most devastating scenario? East winds dragging the ocean onshore?
