Israeli planes pounded the Gaza Strip Thursday, carrying out retaliatory airstrikes after "terrorist" gunmen killed seven near the Egypt-Israeli border.
At least six people were killed in the strikes, including one militant leader, according to Israeli officials. The strike took out a house in the town of Rafah, near the Egyptian border.
"Those who gave the order to murder our citizens, while hiding in Gaza, are no longer among the living," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address.
Gunmen killed at least six people in separate attacks Thursday, firing on a bus and other vehicles with automatic weapons and an anti-tank missile near the costal resort town of Eilat. At the same time, a military patrol struck an "explosive device."
Military officials blamed the attack on "terrorist squads who infiltrated Israel" and blamed the unstable political situation in Egypt for weakened security in the region.
"It reflects the weakening of Egypt's hold in the Sinai and the broadening of activities by terror elements," said Defence Minister Ehud Barak.
U.S. Secretary of state Hillary Clinton had similar sentiments, saying the attacks underscore the country's "strong concernsabout the security situation in the Sinai Peninsula."
"Recent commitments by the Egyptian government to address the security situation in the Sinai are important and we urge the Egyptian government to find a lasting resolution."

Oh to have a real man like this leading our nation. God bless Bibi.

Why did Sun News network put the word “terrorist” in quotes? Are they a lefty outfit?
Why is terrorist in quotes?
Benny and the Jets, performing in Gaza.
Maybe it’s an artifact of “Canadian” English, but what’s with the scare quotes arong the word “terrorist” in the article?
Is there some argument that shooting up a bus full of people, randomly firing mortars at citizens or launching an anti-tank missle against civilian vehicles is anything BUT a terrorist act? Are they indicating that the Israelis may call the perps “terrorists” but they’re no so sure?
Or is this another example of the nauseating moral confusion that some Cannucks (and a fair percentage of lefties down her)like to think passes for sophisticated thinking?
And when did a “pounding” kill just seven people?
Bibi know what to do...and he will do it.
But at the same time, we have the likes of Hillary, who is a part of the administrtion who presided over our throwing the former Egyptian government under the bus, who makes this statement:
"Recent commitments by the Egyptian government to address the security situation in the Sinai are important and we urge the Egyptian government to find a lasting resolution."
Well, that sure enough fixed it. Boy did we show them.
Seems odd doesn’t it that the “Sun News” would do that.
"Why did Sun News network put the word terrorist in quotes? Are they a lefty outfit?"Sun News Network is definitely not a "lefty outfit". It is the newest cable news outlet, part of Sun Media which is a chain of newspapers, and now a television news outlet, with a generally conservative perspective.I wondered about the quotes myself but I give the headline writer a pass,
IMO, the infiltration and attack was by one of two possibilities:
1. A terrorist attack, as such an act of terrorism, or,
2. An attack by irregulars in the employ of a hostile foreign power, as such an act of war.
U.S. Secretary of state Hillary Clinton had similar sentiments, saying the attacks underscore the country’s “strong concerns about the security situation in the Sinai Peninsula.”
“Recent commitments by the Egyptian government to address the security situation in the Sinai are important and we urge the Egyptian government to find a lasting resolution.”
Was there a law passed that snuck by us that this administration has to have the looniest people on the payroll? Hillary thought what would happen when they welcomed the Muslim Brotherhood to take over???
Don’t worry your ugly head about it Hillary - Bibi is more than capable of taking care of the problem unlike someone else I won’t name!!!
“Terrorist”
Curious why this “reporter” doubts people who machine gun women and children in a bus are “terrorists.”
“The Sun” is a “News” site.
“Why is terrorist in quotes?”
I think because this reporter thinks it’s not terror when dirty Jooooos are killed.
They looked like "sneer quotes" to me. What's a "scare quote."
Either of a pair of quotation marks used to emphasize a word or phrase or to indicate its special status, especially to express doubt about its validity or to criticize its use.
I don't know whether this is what the "reporter" did on "his" own, or whether the "editor" of Sun "News" did this. Either way, Sun "News" and its sneer quotes might possibly rise to the level of bird cage liner - if, that is, flocks of flying pigs block the noonday sun and I decide to buy a copy of that "newspaper."
