Rick Perry called the idea of a wall across the entire U.S.-Mexico border ridiculous today in a stop in New Hampshire.
You got strategic fencing in some of the metropolitan areas its very helpful, the Texas governor said. But the idea that youre going to build a wall from Brownsville to El Paso is just -- its ridiculous on its face.
That was in the context of Perry saying how he'd asked Washington for 1,000 National Guard troops and how current efforts at border security are ineffective.
Perry swatted at the Obama administrations assertion that the border is safer than its ever been.
Six week ago, the president went to El Paso and sai the border is safer than its ever been, Perry began. I have no idea, maybe he was talking about the Canadian border. I will assure you one thing, if Im president of the United States, the border will be secure.

It's the law. And its practical. When you consider that the majority of the illegals come through via trucks, a fence makes awesomely good sense.
As far as the "expense" it was all totally funded ...over 3 1/2 years ago...and Bush simply refused to build it, and squandered a chunk of it on his 'virtual fence'...which has now been universally acknowedged to be a complete failure and mistake.
A hard real double fence is needed. Just like as designed by the Israeli's, and incorporated in the officially enacted Congressional Plan of Duncan Hunter...which Bush signed into law...and then fraudulently failed to implement as required by that law...and Obama pretends it doesn't even exist as a legal requirement...
DING! DING! We have a winner!
If your back yard has thousands of flies swarming to an open garbage can full of smelly food, it is an utter waste of time to built a 30 foot high fence to keep the flies out or to spend all day with a fly swatter chasing flies.
The simple solution:
Close the garbage can lid tightly and, within 30 minutes, the flies deport themselves out of your back yard.
Spot On! There are spots where a physical wall makes perfect sense, and vast amounts of wilderness where it would be a huge waste of money, because it will be breachable anyway. There are lots more common sense ideas to stop the flood beyond a physical wall on the entire border. Laws already on the books for starters.
Wow. Another call for Amnesty. If border jumpers are allowed to have their crimes forgiven, why not other criminals?

He took strong action on Sanctuary cities? WHAT? I know he STRONGLY condemned them right before the last election.....Houston was one city and guess what? Low and behold if the state of Texas DPS doesn’t have the SAME EXACT sanctuary policy as law....So he condemns sanctuary cities while he’s been running a SANCTUARY STATE for 12 years. So he can blow the “sanctuary city” schtick out his rear blowhole.
Perry went to Israel and while there asked to be given a tour of the Gaza Strip and a run-down on their security and drones.
Perry asked the feds for drones -- crickets.
Perry asked for troops on the ground -- got some paper pushers.
Feds are conducting things like "Fast and Furious" and our people are getting shot.
Perry gets an amendment through the legislature requiring a birth certificate to get a drivers license and a judge immediately overturns it.
AB I agree. But I did like my rant. It helps to vent. Especially with illegals down the street in a day labor line getting black market jobs from shady contractors.
Yep, and now the pro-amnesty people here want Bush2, and they think we are all dumb enough to fall for it again.
Build the double fence with a patrol road in between and put adequate personnel in place, then the border can be controlled to a high degree.
That’s what the Secure Fence Act of 2006 called for, but a certain president who came from Connecticut via Texas used many ruses to avoid following the law, and then a female senator from Texas inserted language in a later bill that removed the requirement to even build a fence.
That’s how Texas politicians act concerning border enforcement and voters are right to look at the actual record rather than listening to the cheerleading squad for any given politician.
But the border can be controlled to a large extent with double fencing and adequate personnel and the use of practical technology (not a dumbass virtual fence scheme).
Seriously? You really think that’s a viable option?
YES!!
YES!!
YES!!
If LEOs had bothered to act on those videos the wall would have turned out to be a major inconvenience.
Here is Rick Perry in His Own words
Rick Perry Supports Obamacare for Mexican citizens why would he secure the borders?
“Legislation authored by border legislators Pat Haggerty and Eddie Lucio establishes an important study that will look at the feasibility of bi-national health insurance. This study recognizes that the Mexican and U.S. sides of the border compose one region, and we must address health care problems throughout that region. Thats why I am also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to individuals living on the Mexican side of the border.”
Rick Perry supports Texas money to educate Illegals
“As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated. The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABCs in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions. We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, we dont care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there. And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers. “
Perry on Providing Special College rates for illegals
“Thats why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Those young minds are a part of a new generation of leaders, the doors of higher education must be open to them. The message is simple: educacion es el futuro, y si se puede.”
Rick Perry supports an open border
“President Foxs vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it.”
Rick Perry supports Mexican truckers taking U.S. jobs.
“That is why it is wrong, and inherently detrimental to our relationship with Mexico for the U.S. Congress to pursue a protectionist policy that forbids Mexican trucks from U.S. roadways. It is bad public policy, and it violates the terms of the NAFTA agreement we agreed to. Mexican trucks that meet our safety standards should be given the same access to U.S. roads as our Canadian neighbors to the north”
Perry opposes a Law like Arizon’s for Texas His excuse...he said he does not want to tie up Texas law enforcement resources because it would take them away from enforcing other criminal activities (ie. rape, burgularies, drug trafficking , murders) you know the crimes that are so often committed by illegals, that he doesn’t want to waste our resources on.

In my old days as an infantryman, we were always taught that a roadblock had to be covered by direct fire weapons .. and, preferably, a minefield .. to be effective. Otherwise, it is, as you so aptly put it, a minor inconvenience, a speed bump.
And if the few fences we have up weren't having an impact, then the attempts to cross in the oceans would not be increasing so rapidly. I note the price alleged is untrue, since Bush/Obama diverted 60+% of the monies, and the amount is still miniscule compared to the costs of the infiltrations against our society.
Perry’s right.... There are some areas like the Rio Grande valley where a fence is not practical. They’ve put up a wall in areas that cut ranches in half. There are Texans that actually live on the “mexico” side of the wall. Cutting Americans off from a major natural resource is...”ridiculus”. There are alternatives.
