Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.
"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."
Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."
Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

Mr. Rove is jeopardizing the “magnificent” adjective.
I accuse Obama of being a Traitor, and if Ben Bernanke wants to stay on board with him then he´s one too. The shoe fits.
The loud howls about Rick Perry’s statement will only draw attention to the truth in Perry’s statement. People around this nation know there is a stink in Washington DC and are happy to know when someone tells them where that stink is coming from.
Perry didn't accuse Bernanke of treason.
In fact, currency debasement has been used in the past to destabilize countries:
Operation Bernhard was the codename of a secret Nazi plan devised during the Second World War by the RSHA and the SS to destabilise the British economy by flooding the country with forged Bank of England £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes. It is the largest counterfeiting operation in history...
...make that, *was* the largest counterfeiting operation in history.

He promised the Federal Reserve would not monetize the debt of the U.S. government.
Rove, stick it and move out of the way.
It’s about time someone with nads spoke up with the obvious.
Sliding this video in here for those who missed it...
Please excuse my toe stepping Cincinatus’ wife, but this is quicker then a post of it’s own. I will be doing this as often as I can. Shows what a frickin’ snake-oil, L.I.A.R 0 is.
Shut up Rove.
Members of the Ruling Class often strive to protect each other, regardless of party affiliation. This behavior always inures to the benefit of Democrats, with each controversy neatly framed by the Democrat public relations department that pretends to be a national “news media”. And any Republican in Washington who criticizes one of his or her own is always guaranteed a seat at the dinner table.
With so many RePukelican elitists and GWB alumni criticizing him, might this be a good way to easily quash liberal gerbilist claims that Perry is the second coming of the “evil” Bush administration? (Queue diabolical laugh track)
The actual quote involved printing money for political purposes.
Don’t know about that.
But I DO know that Karl Rove is the punk-ass, goofy, nerdy, establishment, RINO bitch, that engineered the election of GWB.
August 5, 2011: >>>>.......Rove declined to comment, but someone close to him said he has been very careful about maintaining his neutrality in the 2012 primaries, and said Crossroads fundraising wouldnt be significantly affected by either Perrys possible entry into the race, or by the fact that a top Crossroads official had formed a super PAC to boost Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and establishment favorite.......<<<<<< Source
karl rove—the obsolete, the has-been, the a$$
Heard on the radio the other day that Bush and Perry hate each other. Look for more from Bush’s people trashing Perry....
For all those who call Perry a RINO, etc,,, the fact that Rove is trying to take him down, is absolute concrete evidence that many here have been wrong about Perry the whole time.
Perry will surprise a lot if cynical people on this forum.
I don't even know what that means, but I can dig it. +1.

Ill say this....I may not be overboard for Perry
But he is a damn sight better than any of the Bushes and their snotty moderate allies
