NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Talks between Verizon and striking workers continue as the company enlists the FBI to look into alleged sabotage of some of its network facilities.
Spokesman Rich Young said Thursday the company has discovered more than 90 acts of sabotage since the strike began over the weekend. Young said wires have been cut, resulting in the loss of phones and Internet service for residences and businesses. The company, based in New York City, said a small town police department and a hospital have been affected.
FBI spokesman Bryan Travers said the bureau is looking into the allegations.
A workers' union spokeswoman said the union doesn't condone illegal action of any kind.

Amazingly Verizons customers have reported customer service is pretty much the same.
bump.
I love the “union doesn’t condone these types of actions” statements. Somehow these things seem to just happen spontaneously when unions are involved. The only good thing about it is that there was a time when unions would have bragged openly about these actions - now they know that they are no longer untouchable and at least make an effort to lie about it.
LOL
They may not “condone” it, but they certainly “approve” of it. It would be hilarious to catch one of these union goons in the act of sabotage and make him (and the union) pay for everything they did. Make a nice dent in their political action funds. Even better, charge them with terrorism.
Union thugs know they will never be investigated, let alone caught. Don’t forget, any cop assigned to investigate “alleged” union sabotage, is a union member himself. Different union, sure, but they cover for each other.
I saw this first hand during a very long, protracted strike by a national union.
It seems those Unions don’t care who they hurt.

Hear me now? Union picketers ridiculous (Verizon in Mass.) |

I looked in the street and there are picketers, 10 of them or more, doing a circle around the Verizon truck, said Karen Austin, 64, a mother of five who lives on Forest Avenue. Every time (the repairmen) would walk up to my house they would follow them. I couldnt believe my eyes. This is ridiculous. Why are they picketing my house? |

My son is working 13 twelve hour days in a row,one day off,and then 13 again.
He is management and has far less benefits than these strikers do.
Insanity.
Shoot them,it is an act of terrorism.

As good criminals are wont to do, the good spokesman doesn't believe it's possible to condone by acquiescence.
If it also doesn't condemn it, both statements are meaningless.
I had Verizon FIOS for about 2 months. It was awful. After Verizon laid fiber in my neighborhood, there were a lot of service calls from Comcast customers. It seems Verizon did a good job of hacking up Comcast’s fiber lines. Comcast had to run a new line to my house. The repair tech said that a lot of their fiber has been nicked by the Verizon guys. Intentional? Absolutely.
I’m calling BS on that.
I relyon Verizon for voice and data and have had nothing but sporadic service over the past 3 weeks.
Yes, I have complained numerous times and yes, I am looking into another provider.
This is domestic terrorism.
The sarcastic point was that Verizon customer service SUCKS!
I’ve had FIOS for quite a while and it generally works pretty well. Verizon is shipping every job they can overseas and treats their employees like crap.
Several years ago they offered me a job, ironically to be project manager on the project to develop FIOS. Pay rate wasn’t very good but the real catch was they required work weeks of 70-80 hours. But would only pay for 40.
Unions suck too, so its really hard for me to feel sorry for either of these organizations.
I have been without phone service for days and they are telling me 1 to 2 weeks before service is restored. Towns all over NJ are experiencing the same thing.
Can somebody tell me why this is not considered TERRORISM. Doesn’t the Patriot Act specifically call out attacks on communications infrastructure as terrorism?
What if an elderly person who doesn’t have a cell phone has a heart attack and dies becuase there is no way to phone for help? Isn’t that MURDER?
I’m for tapping these union’s phones, finding who is doing this, and shipping them off to Gitmo.
