Rick Perry says he is definitely running
UPI ^ | 8-11-11

While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.

"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. … The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.

Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."

Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

O’Reilly .. last night .. on the Pubbie candidates with
Dennis Miller

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhemQhmLxRI

Miller: “Do you see who the president is? I’d take anybody over him tomorrow, and I think a lot of the people are getting to that point, too”

“for God’s sake, look who we elected last time!”

I believe that she could still announce and I don’t narrow myself to just one candidate in the primary until I vote. I do believe that a few of the ones I like will drop out or be forced out before I get to vote, this way I am still left with a palatable choice in the end.

Another good reason why its good to not wait too late to announce.

Oh yeah, I can DVR them, thanks. It’s just deciding which one’s. I’ll watch the debates. The other’s are just pre-season anyway.

Sounds a lot like GW Bush. So YES it can be a lot better.

The guy that NPR executives and the New York Times and your average Subaru-driving Whole Foods shopper were afraid George W. Bush was? Rick Perry is that guy. George W. Bush was Midland by way of Kennebunkport. Rick Perry’s people are cotton farmers from Paint Creek, a West Texas town so tiny and remote that my Texan traveling-salesman father looked at me skeptically and suggested I had the name wrong when I asked him whether he knew where it was.

If she doesn’t, then whoever earns her support, and I would assume that would be Perry, then, that would vault that candidate forward big time.
I think what she's thinking MIGHT go something like this:

If I run, my high negatives make it very difficult for me -- and with me, all the good people -- to win.
But if I ENDORSE, and endorse intelligently, I can pull off the endorsement coup of the millenium -- and at the same time help all the good Americans I want to help.

Again, just idle speculation on my part, but it is what I'm thinking.

Ann Richards? You’ve gotta be kidding! She was a Democrat and a liberal (Robin Hood plan to fund school districts).

I don’t think Palin is interested in being ANYONE’S VP ever again.

On the other hand, LBJ also came from a similar background, and we all know how he turned out.

It will be worth it, just to hear Perry tell Obama on January 20, 2013, “Adios, Mofo!”

*****************************************

She did have one redeeming virtue. She was incoherently drunk a good measure of the time and was therefore out of action during those episodes. Signed legislation just doesn’t look the same with drool marks on it.

The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said.
He's been saying all along that his wife talked him into this, that he wasn't of a mind to do it on his own. And I'm willing to take him at his word on that.

But what did his wife DO to get him to agree to this tedious task of running for president? Did she, perhaps, put in a call to Sarah Palin? Did Sarah, perhaps, take that call? Did Sarah, perhaps, say, "do it; I'm on board with it"?

Anything's possible.

His internals are blowing the other candidates off the map. He has moved against Romney and Obama higher and faster than all the other candidates and wannabe/maybe non candidates combined. And not only that, his name recognition is only about 60%. He has real Reagan potential.
Got links to latest polls with these numbers?

Reagan was a polished PR and Public relations master, mainly because of his Hollywood acting experience. He was also trained on how to captivate an audience in both speaking and manner.

Perry is every bit as dignified as Reagan, but his strengths lie in his ability to appeal to a broad number of voters and he does not wear his ideology on his sleeve or push it on other people. He tries to be more of an influence than anything. He is also broad support for his policies, among a wide spectrum of political persuasions, if he is elected. His time in Texas is a clear illustration of what I am saying. Perry is also a deeply humble and honorable man.

Does that make him a RINO? No more than Reagan was a RINO. The similarities of both men, lies in their very similar careers as Governors of two of the largest populated states in the USA. It's not an easy task, and not everybody will be happy with everything you do. Perry has done an amazing job. That is one fact that cannot be denied.

How many AGGIES does it take to beat Obama?
One.
If Palin doesn't run, what you just posted is going on the bumper of my car.

*snip*

The announcement of his presidential bid is expected to come Saturday. On that day, Perry will deliver a speech in South Carolina, at a RedState conference in Charleston, and then plans to travel to the key early voting state of New Hampshire.

On Sunday, Perry will speak at a Republican fundraiser in Iowa for the Black Hawk County Republicans, his campaign confirmed to the CBS News earlier this week. His decision to travel to the crucial first-in-the-nation voting state signals that he plans to compete aggressively there for the Republican presidential nomination.

one counterpoint.

I just read on another thread that Palin “tweeted” something about Texas debt going way up under Perry.

So....her most recent statement about things Perry was a criticism. (Assuming this info is correct).

So...I’m not sure about what this all means.
