Because of Boner's original bill and the McConnell Reid revision, we were hit with the downgrading of U.S. Credit.
Boner and McConnell are NOT the people you would want by your side in a firefight in the trenches. They would be willing to surrender if it saved their skins.
The entire Supercommittee concept is an unconstitutional mechanism to subvert the spirit of the Constitution to allow Boner and McConnell et al to screw the Tea Party People without appearing to screw them.
If you look at the composition of the DEMOCRAT members of this body, together with the one RINO, possibly two, Boner selected, the outcome is a forgone conclusion. Token cuts and massive tax increases which MAY help the budget initially, but which will strangle the economy even further and destroy it down the road.
Even more than Obama, Boner and McConnell need to GO.
Ahhhh . . . the House members of the Republican Cave In Committee . . .
Two from Michigan and no Tea Party representation . . . bend over folks . . . you are about to be screwed
Did anyone think this ‘committee’ was being set up to be effective?
Or just another show...to ‘appear’ to be doing something of good on our behalf of course...of course.
With a few exceptions, the difference is becoming more blurred.
Remember, anything recommended by this committee has to be passed by the House. I don’t think the house will vote to “increase” taxes, if you are talking about tax rates. However, if the committee chooses to recommend closing some tax loopholes in exchange for deeper spending cuts I might be able to support that.
Whenever I read the Detroit news they always use the word Michiganian instead of Michigander. When did that start? When I grew up there it was always Michigander.
Hensarling’s sadly underperformed his position in the House leadership IMO. (He was the good old boy they named instead of Bachmann, who actually knows how to get a message out.)
But Upton is the embarrassment in this group. Just whose corporate water was he carrying when he banned our light bulbs? GE’s?
“Ryan asked NOT to be on THIS committee....smart guy!”
Absolutely false. Stated flatly on Cavuto he wanted on. Saw it and heard it with me own eyes. Sorry.
Don’t know but I’m still a Michigander.
My head's spinning.
Yep, and the whole bill is framed in a way that Republicans will have to choose between massive defense cuts or tax increases. This bill was written to screw the Tea Party and for the GOP to try to escape accountability! The job of McConnell and Boehnor was to be sure to appoint some RINOs. I have no doubt that this is the case now!
Maybe Ryan did not want to be on it fearing that he would become the issue.
Pat Toomey is associated with the Tea Party on the Senate side. Not sure of any of the others.
Light bulb Upton?
“Ryan asked NOT to be on THIS committee....smart guy!”
That is not what I heard him say on Fox News Sunday this last week. He said he would if he was asked.
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) - 100 (House term rating)
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) - 88 (House term rating)
Yes, you are correct. But the GOP will be put in the position of choosing between massive military cuts (which automatically take effect if there is no bargain) and tax increases. Atleast that is the way I understand it. Liberals win either way.
