An air strike by NATO-led forces in Afghanistan killed Taliban fighters, including a local leader, who were responsible for a weekend helicopter crash that killed 38 troops, the worst single incident in 10 years of war.
"We dealt with them in a kinetic strike," General John Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, told reporters at the Pentagon.
Gen. Allen said the military tracked the Taliban fighters for several days after the helicopter went down. Forces reportedly trailed the fighters to a position in Chak District, Wardak Province, and then US F-16s struck and killed them Tuesday.
"The strike killed Taliban leader Mullah Mohibullah and the insurgent who fired the shot associated with the Aug. 6 downing of the CH-47 helicopter, which resulted in the deaths of 38 Afghan and coalition service members," the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.

Yeah that made me think I was back in physics class. This is the military under Obama. We lose 30 of the best of the best and kill 2 dirt bags in dirty pajamas? I doubt they'd have a life expectancy longer than three months anyways.
Every time I see one of Obama's generals talk I want to break the TV. I see all the new weapons on the military channel that we refuse to use because we have to fight a "PC" war.
Utter garbage.
Sorry. I just don’t believe this story for one minute. Lies. They bombed some low-level guys on Obama’s orders. I really hate to say it. But this narcissist adores the affection he got after he offed Bin Laden, and it would hardly be beneath him to order such a strike.
Very good question. They know the exact pig that did it? Makes no sense.
Our guys were tracking them.....
The strike killed Taliban leader Mullah Mohibullah and the insurgent who fired the shot associated with the Aug. 6 downing of the CH-47 helicopter, which resulted in the deaths of 38 Afghan and coalition service members,” the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.
According to the statement, the two men were attempting to flee the country in order to avoid capture. The strike killed them along with “several” Taliban associates.
There is no bottom in my well of disgust for this man and his allies.
Then you go f****** 'save' them.
“The eyes in the sky never blink.”
These PC idiots are trying to ruin our military.
Sorry, it cannot have happened.
Let's kill them BEFORE they kill us.
Regardless of how many were killed, no number of these criminals killed can ever come even close to making up for just one US military soldier killed...in particular, not one of the "best of the best"...
IMHO...
I immediately wondered the same thing. ????
“who need to know of His love.”
Go for it. Let’s us know how that works for ya. They usually kill Christians.
The death of so many of our SEALS was a crushig blow. Depressing...this doesn’t make it all better but knowing the people responsible are burning in Hell helps.
A kinetic strike is one where there is no chance of the enemy striking back but costs a lot more money; whereas, a “setting duck” strike is one where Obama tries to cut the cost of military and jams highly trained forces into a flying buss to save a few dollars.
I have mixed feelings. I cannot get happy about “revenge” when I think they (the Taliban) should have been nailed in the original event. Also, what is the real story here? Was this just a “lucky” shot with an RPG that took out the helo or was it an elaborate set up ambush? If it was a set up, did we get sold out, and by whom?
I am glad they can claim to have nailed the Taliban responsible for this loss of our military & allies....it is some small degree of comfort. However, in a larger sense the ENTIRE Taliban is responsible and they all need to cease to breath. That would make me feel better.
Sorry, but I need to babble further. If F-16s nailed them finally, then why didn’t the “Rangers” engaged in a heavy firefight not call in these initially for support? Why was a team of warriors sent in to reinforce (according to news) instead of using close air support? An RPG cannot take out a fast mover like a F-16. Also, altitude has no effect on the F-16 like it does helos.
WHy not? I would think the Special forces were given the ok to go after these creeps and they know fully well how to obtain intelligence etc. to get the job done.
If the taliban were seen leaving the area and or before or both...which apparently they were...then tracking them would not be an issue for special forces.....even if they were not seen...money talks in Afghanistan.
Believe it or don’t, last night on the porch I swatted (kinetic action) and killed the exact mosquito what bit me last Sunday.
“Peter Skeeter.” And injured his leader “Mosquito Bandito.”
Well. I had very good intel on them. /s
