Back in 2008, we were told the government needed a stimulus package or else the economy would fall apart. They got it and it fell apart anway.
2 weeks ago we were told that Aug 2nd was the drop dead point for increasing the debt ceiling or else the USA would lose its AAA status. It was raising the credit rating was reduced anyway.
Anyone else smell a rat or is it just me?

QUESTION: So...from everything I have heard...both here on FR and on the net...color me confused. Why are treasuries trading with lower interest rates today?
The 10 yr note is down .19% as I write this. From what I had been hearing and reading...it was suppose to to rise after this downgrade. So why is it falling?
Makes me wonder if all this talk of sky-rocketing interest rates in the near future is a bunch of fear-mongering.
