The bill that was marginally acceptable to the TEA party was CC&B.
Harry Reid tabled it in the Senate. Never got a vote there.
The CC&B bill passed the House three weeks before the version that actually passed. The TEA party voted against it, but there were enough RINOs and democrats to pass it anyway.
Other than preventing Congress from continued reckless spending, the TEA party didn’t get its way.
Axelrod’s “blame” is all political blather.

Chicago = broke. Illinois = broke. The Executive branch of the US government is now run by Chicago Politicians. And its OUR fault were being downgraded? They submitted NO BUDGETS. They have no plan to reduce spending. They defy the raters. They blame everybody who tried to save them. Now they Blame the Tea Party.
They cannot do much worse.

“A top White House adviser is blaming the downgrade of the U.S. credit rating on tea party Republicans, whom he says were unwilling to compromise on how to reduce the federal debt.”
Gone are the days when Tom Ayers (WU terrorist’s father) could rely on his point man Axelrod to line up local promoters, a/k/a astroturfers, to praise whatever initiative ComEd wanted. Now Axelrod, at the pinnacle of power, can only rely on making up his fantasies in shilling for the WH by peddling them himself to unwitting talk show audiences. The Tea Party should eat his lunch.

RE: "The sad thing is, the Republican leadership probably did get 95% of what they wanted."
Unfortunately both sides for the past fifty years have gotten us into a scenario with little options to get out of the hole. Of course when one is faced with long term majority hold of both or either side of Congress by the left, what can one expect.

You expect to get screwed. The real problem is, that once our team got power from 1994 until 2006, they didn’t do squat.
Okay, that’s not entirely true. Under Clinton they forced reform and balanced the budget. Then when we had our guy in the White House, Congress governed as Democrat Congresses do.
That’s the pisser!
