Is America Ready for 'George W. Bush on Steroids'?
The Atlantic ^ | AUG 6 2011 | JOSHUA GREEN

HOUSTON -- The days leading up to "The Response," Texas Gov. Rick Perry's prayer rally at Reliant Stadium, had looked a little grim for the governor and the event's organizers. Only about 7,000 people had confirmed that they would attend a venue that seats 71,500, and the controversial roster of sponsors -- including the American Family Association, which is labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center -- drew as much attention as the event's stated purpose of praying and fasting for the nation's improvement.

I thought the day's shrewdest political insight came from Dr. Richard Land, the former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a sixth-generation Texan, who I bumped into in the hallway after Perry spoke. "If he runs, he'll be a strong candidate," Land told me. "He's a charismatic figure. I think about him on stage with the other candidates and he'll stand out. He's not a wallflower. But the most interesting question for me is whether the country is ready for somebody who looks and sounds like George W. Bush on steroids."

“I think many here would rather see a permanent liberal majority than not have their particular person in office.”

Sad, but true. You see many more vicious attacks on Bush and Perry, than on Obama.

Krintong was, like it or not, gasp, one of us. This clown is one of Stalin's pioneers!

Please do not lose sight of the fact that Obama and the Democrats are the REAL ENEMIES of America and must be defeated at all costs.

If I hear that slogan one more time, I think I will throw up.

"And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just." Romans 3

I will try to never vote for someone just because they might be the lesser of two evils.

"Is America Ready (for a former democrat who led the campaign for Al Gore in Texas) for 'George W. Bush on Steroids'?

I'll pass on the shuck and jive, which thimble contains the bean charade. This guy is a playa. If anything, he is Jimmy Swaggart on Steroids!

the American Family Association, which is labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center

Any random collection of 2 or more white people in a room is a "hate group" according to those race pimps.

Nope it's not a Dem vs GOP problem {that party operatives would like you to believe} rather it is a Liberals destroying this nation problem and both parties are saturated with them. Americans have lost sight of that fact when the GOP two house GOP majority sold us out in 1995 {the second year into Clintons two terms} and never were held accountable for that betrayal. There was no excuse for what the GOP did with a two house six year majority under W either. It was the two house GOP majority under Bush jr which expanded presidential powers far beyond founders intent. An act for which we are now paying for today under Obama. The real enemies are liberals of any party.

THANK YOU for saying it so well.

Let’s review, Mr. Green, the SPLC is a hate group of disgusting Marxist clowns who hoard money offshore ($140MM at last count) to demonize Christians and religious Jews.

I am unsure about Perry, just about your assumptions.

My thoughts exactly. What a crushing blow to be labeled a “hate group” by the esteemed, agenda-free Southern Poverty Law Center. Har!

He probably thinks that anyone not on his staff is a hate group. Funny thing in a peculiar way. His organization is one of the largest hate groups I have seen.

But apparently Perry did and had to be "convinced" by the voters...

Do you REALLY want this guy to be able to issue EO's with little or no check and balance from congress or the people.

But apparently obummer did and he didn't give a rat's behind what the voters thought about obummercare and signed a "We have to pass it to find out what's in it" health care law / tax increase, which BTW is the largest tax increase in HISTORY.

Do you REALLY want obummer to be able to keep issuing EO's with little or no check and balance from congress or the people like he for the past two years and nine months?

I used most of your very words, except substituted obummer instead of Perry. Our #1 goal in 2012 is to REMOVE Satan from the white hut.

I'd like to meet David Dewhurst and Speaker Straus on the street. They'd both have to go to the ER to have one of my size 10 combat boots surgically removed from their behind for blocking the sanctuary city bill the Gov wanted this past session.

I forgot to add the 600+ new regulations that jackass in the WH has added by EO since he has been in orifice. I guess you are OK with those too.

Yes— I would take a wish washy conservative as president with a conservative house and senate any day of the week. That is where legislation to decided and the president would have to sign legislation they sent up if he wanted to continue the charade.

“How ‘ bout a Perry/Rubio ticket?”

Switch the order to Rubio/Perry, and it’s a possibility.
