Without Tea Party Votes, Boehner Speakership Hits Rough Waters
NPR ^ | July 28, 2011 | Frank James

Just as the Washington narrative had started to shift a bit from "House Speaker John Boehner doesn't have the juice to get his conference to support him" to "Boehner is getting his fellow Republicans to rally around him" it shifts back to the former.

That's because he was unable to get enough members of the Republican conference to commit to voting for his debt-ceiling increase.

It should go without saying, this is a signal setback for the speaker, who in recent days had pleaded, cajoled and demanded that his conference get behind him if, for no other reason, to show solidarity as he confronts the Democrats who control the Senate and the White House.

Ron Paul might be crazy but he knows enough history to see it coming.

If Boehner is threatening to withdraw GOP support for the fight to keep Boeing in SC, he needs to go now. His tactics should be publicized and he needs to be sent packing.

Not only that but I think he’s cutting a deal with Reid even as we speak.

If Boehner can’t get this bill passed tonight, he will resign as Speaker tomorrow. Just my gut feeling. Of course that will make many around here happy. It won’t be any easier for the next guy. Right or wrong, the Tea Party folks are making life interesting on Capital Hill.

lol! OT but just for a quick laugh.

RT @chucktodd Rand Paul, responding to McCain attack on tea partiers: “I’d rather be a hobbit than a troll.”

It’s not Dems vs. Republicans, or even Socialists vs. conservatives, but elites vs. normal people.

Bingo Paul. We have a winner! Excellent summation of what is going on. Care to guess the solution? Come on now. It's on the tip of your tongue. Speak to me my man.

We want a Balanced Budget Amendment and...and...come on. Come on. You can say it. It's OK. You will find lots of supporters if you says those two special words.

Boehner appears to be like McCain: he confines his thugishness to he interactions with conservatives.

yesterday I sent Mr. Boehner my second email after his famous “get your ass in line” comment. IT was ugly and I am not proud of my language, but I stand behind it. IT was titled “how does it feel to destroy the best country on earth “? In the body of the email I suggested that Mr. Boehner pull his head out of his A— and start trying to save this country by STOPPING THE SPENDING OF MONEY THAT WE DO NOT HAVE. I strongly suggested that if he was not up to that job that he please resign “and take that old man McCain with him. Yes John was a war hero (?) but that was over 40 years ago and people do change. It is time to crap or get off the pot. Save my country! If you are determined to destroy this country may God inflict upon you all with the plagues of Egypt, the apocalypse, and may you burn in perdition forever.
